Icon5 Ostrich 2.0 Not Recognizing COM Port

Hey everybody, I apologize if this is something that's been discussed in depth, I found a lot of threads for having problems connecting to the ECU but none that I could see with problems connecting to my laptop.
Drivers are installed and up to date for the ostrich, when I plug it into the laptop it comes in as COM5. If I change USB ports it remains COM5. I change the setting on Crome to "Moates Devices" and set the COM port to COM5. I then press "detect Connection" or whatever it says (Moates tutorial calls it Test Connection). It comes up with the error: "Thread error: The handle is invalid (6)". And then Crome essentially crashes. Any time I try to press anything it makes a windows noise and I have to close it through task manager.
Some people have suggested factory resetting the Ostrich which I will be doing later tonight but I want to know if there's anything else I can try to fix it. I might also try replacing the USB cord to be safe. I'll also be switching over to HTS since every forum I've read has suggested it over Crome due to continued support (their Discord has already been helpful).
Thanks in advance, let me know your thoughts!

Make the switch to hts, crome has always been buggy in one way or another. When I tuned on crome I could never really get the data logging to actually work on it. With hts stuff just works. It’s soo much better and no reason to use outdated crome anymore.

You may need to change the battery inside the ostrich.
