Default Obd2a engine on a Obd2b harness

Hi I have a 1999 Ej9 with a D15Z6 engine ( Obd2a vtec ) I do have the correct obd2a harness and ecu for this engine but since my car is a 1999 the harness is not compatible, would it be possible to repin the obd2b harness into the obd2a connector plugs for the ecu? Is it possible to just switch the wires in the connector blocks so it matches the obd2a ecu? Any help would be appreicated, cheers.

Your obd2a engine harness will not work in the obd2b civic. You'll end up with 2 A plugs.

Yes I realized this, so would it be possible to repin the obd2b harness wires into the obd2a connector plugs to fit the ecu? Surely it would be a matter of moving the pins to the correct obd2a spots?

You can repin an obd2a to obd2b, but check if your wiring is an obd2C first.

You can do it by moving the pins around.
I've also seen adapter harnesses for this as well. Try looking for one of those if you want an easier way.
The hard part is the green plug that goes to the dash/indicators and reverse lights. You have to do some wiring work there as well.
The other thing is the dizzy plug. You won't have the blue tach wire on the B harness that the A harness expects.
Although I think that is something that doesn't go to the ECU but instead goes to the gauge cluster... (going from memory here. It's been about 4 years since i did one, sorry)

Ok cheers for the replies,I had a look though all the pins on the pin outs for Obd2a and obd2b it seems there are a few pins missing from one? Since ihave the obd2a engine, engine harnes and ecu would it be easier to buy an complete obd2a interior loom? would this work in a 1999 ej9? if so I have found one I can get.
