Default Neptune RTP Issues

This thread was made to see if anyone else has had the same problem we have had.

When trying to connect to the RTP (non demon) it says its connected. but when clicking the datalogging start it either stays disconnected or says connected but doesnt read anything ( all the values stay the same. Right now check engine light stays on and seems like its on limp mode and doesnt pull any codes with the pedal.

I have tried to contact hr-tuning about them offering a warranty and didnt get the answer i was looking for.

It sounds like there's a problem with the way the ECU is socketed, not the RTP itself. This is exactly what happens when the socket isn't soldered well. It will throw a solid CEL, and if you try to datalog it will not read.

first off thanks for your reply. i will check that when i get off work but i dont see how this could happen to 10 different ecu/ RTPs purchased around the same time? all worked fine for 2 years then when new software came they stopped working. mine has worked for the longest (5 years) and recently started doing what the other did

I'm not sure how you didn't get the answer you were looking for. Your unit is 5 years old and was made by Moates.net. You need to contact them for warranty service on the hardware. They may allow you to upgrade to the Demon RTP setup.

The current software still works perfectly with the older RTPs. I have one for testing.

Im making this thread as stated above to see if anyone has had any problems with it. we had purchased 10 of these 5 years ago and every single one had problems.

i was telling you the age for reference. I dont see how the age has anything to do with it messing up. i know people with s300 and s200 older than that and have had no issues.

with all do respect, if i had bought a t shirt from a company and something was wrong with it, would i go to that company that sells the shirt or would i go to the factory in china to get the issue resolved?

This isn't a case of a factory being in China producing hardware that I control... Moates.net makes the hardware here in the U.S., I make the software, I buy the hardware from him and bundle it together to form the RTP package. He is the only person who can issue a warranty on his hardware, because it's his hardware. We both take very good care of our customers, so it's likely all of the units you are having trouble with can receive an upgrade. I know people with the very first batch of RTPs that are still working just fine, so the age of the unit is irrelevant. It's odd that you mention all of your units have had issues yet this is the first time I've heard from you, years later. You would have been taken care of.

My personal one Just started having issues 3 days ago at IFO in vegas. I'll contact them and go from there. You never heard anything from the others because they just chucked it as a lost. We prob have 2-3 more ecu with the same problem. the others were thrown away. Jeremy at servion tuning can vouch for the ecu problem we were having.

You have to look it at where i stand. That e-mail just screams run around. sorry you didnt get the china thing i was talking about. but my the point i was trying to make is, would you go to through the person that sells/puts their name on it or from or the person they bought it from? I'm not trying to be rude at all just trying to get my point across

I understand. They should have at least inquired and I would have pointed them to Moates.net for replacement, just as I did for you. No run around here, sorry you took it that way. You'll get taken care of.
