looking for a chip/tune for a B16a engine
hi guys, so yeah im looking to chip/get a tune for this car, its a 1997 honda SIR vtec
nice lil car, its got headers, aem cold air, im cutting the damn cat out of the car (car burned alot of oil and i mean alot) so its plugged good... i fixed the oil burning but time to get rid of that real bad exhaust restriction now
i read that a chip may be somewhat worth while any how over stock engine tuning? is this true?,
i was thinking to turbo it while i had engine apart, but i could not get any information i needed, everybody said "google it", hours googling and nothing,
so no turbo for me, since nobody wanted to help me out, so hopefully they can atleast help me out on finding/getting a tune.... Thanks!

The stock obd2 ecu is mapped for a stock header, intake & exhaust.
Considering you have an intake, header & no cat your stock ecu is not the ideal choice.

You'll need a chipped OBD1 VTEC ECU and an OBD2A to OBD1 conversion harness. P28 ECUs are popular but most properly prepped OBD1 ECUs will work.

As said you'll need a chipped obd1 ecu and jumper harness. If you plan on going turbo I highly recommend looking into Hondata/aem/Neptune/etc. Next just to be clear a basemap(chip) is different from a tune. If you go turbo your going to need to get it tuned, if its just stock with headers and intake a basemap will prob be fine but getting it tuned is always the best thing to do, especially on anything thats been modded
