Default Lack of power :/

I'm not sure if this would be the right place to post this or not but hopefully someone out there could help me out.

I just bought a 95 Honda Civic 4DR Auto. When I push on the gas pedal it's pretty hard to push down then when the vehicle gets going it seems like it doesn't want to exceed 40 MPH, I know it's a D series motor and there is 160k miles on the vehicle but is it common for this car to have such a lack of power or is it possibly time for a new motor? If so, what would you suggest?

Are there any CEL?

Have you done any basic maintenance work on it?

Okay, sorry I haven't replied back to your questions but it did turn out that the head gasket had blown and the people who sold the car failed to mention it and just dumped some no smoke in it. Luckily the head didn't warp and I was able to throw a new one on but I have ran into another problem since then...

Everything was hooked up properly after the head gasket replacement but about a month after a CEL for 43 Fuel Supply System has popped up, now I've replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition coil (car randomly shut off on me one day).

My question is: When I'm accelerating and get up to about 25-30MPH the car hesitates like crazy and its usually around the time the car is supposed to be shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd and it wont shift unless I let up on the gas. I've read forums on the CEL 43 and alot of people are saying it's an O2 sensor, vacuum leak, fuel pump. What do you think it could be?
