Default Gauge temp sender

does anyone know if the temp gauge sensor on the Head, relays data to the ECU and changes any performance? or is it strictly just for the temp gauge....

.im asking because instead of running a whole new wire for my defi temp gauge, i was going to disconnect the stock wire from the OEM sender and tap the defi sender into the oem wiring, so i can tap the gauge wiring already up in the dash to the defi pod..

well if its a single wire then that goes directly to the dash gauge, if its 2 wire then that goes to the ecu.

both exist though.

generally having a high enough ECT could pull timing and hurt performance

yeah the one on the head only has one wire. and im sure its only for the gauge temp bar, but im not sure if the ECU needs that input or not. it would make it easyer for my to install the new wire if i just tap that, rather than wire a whole new wire to the dash.

The ecu does not need that wire, im 100% sure.
That wire goes from the head though the main wire harness right to the dash cluster.
