Default Ethanol sensor mounting options: B-series

Looking for a good place to mount the GM/Continental ethanol sensor. It’s an awkward shape to do cleanly. I’ve seen them on the return line, pressure side near the tank, etc. wondering what others have done but pics are surprisingly scarce. Let me see what’s out there.

I'm running a D-series, so not sure how applicable this is to you, but I'm "floating" my sensor as shown below. I'm using a 90-degree -6AN union off the bottom of the FPR, then a 90-degree -6AN hose end fitting to the fuel return line.

Something like that could work. Looking around the garage I see hat all the b series manifolds I have have an m6 hole on the bottom that I could probably exploit with a bracket. I don’t think I’m going to get it done without asking my fuel return routing complicated, but we’ll see.

There are a host of 3D printed brackets for the sensor for sale on Amazon and eBay...and I may have even seen some CNC aluminum ones as well. I wrestled with where/how to mount mine for quite a while before settling on this. Post pictures of whatever you come up with.

Looks like it might be less complicated than I thought, at least since I'm running an AEM regulator on the rail. Only complication is that I just took the fitting off the bottom of the FPR and realized it's not an -AN flare and that I probably need an ORB to female -AN to adapt to the Russell fittings. Just when I thought it was going to be done I have to add another $30 fitting

Measured the depth of the hole and found that the standard flared fitting would bottom on the flange instead of the flare, so got a new crush washer and ran the Russell fitting straight into the bottom of the regulator. Bothers me that it's not 100% correct, but it doesn't leak so I guess that's all I'm really looking for. The Russell fittings mad a much more rigid/robust assembly than I was expecting out of the SAE quick connects.

Hard to get a good pic of the finished product with the strut bar in there, but here it is:

Nicely done. What are you doing for wiring? If you're using the Innovate harness, I'd recommend tugging on the wires where they go into the connector - my crimps were bad and it sent me in circles at my dyno session. We got it to work, but I ended up cutting the wires and splicing in the GM pigtail once I got home. The GM pigtail uses a slightly larger gauge wire than the Innovate harness, which probably aids in having a better crimp.

Integrating into a new loom that I've been designing. No pigtails, runs straight to a breakout at the ecu end since the S300 will take it directly as will any other ecu that I might swap to in the future. Power and ground come directly from the C115/116 connectors under the manifold, and I'll splice in the pullup resistor near the sensor. Something like this, shrunk over with section of potted tube so I don't have to worry about it:
