Default Does crome disable iacv

I'm in the last step of boosting my car im going to be running a crome p28 and i have heard that id disables the iacv. before i order a basemap from phearable to get me to my tuner so i dont have to convert to the two wire iacv. Then others tell me that it just takes the check engine light off for it. Can someone give me a answer?

It will disable the code. But not the functionality.

So normally you will have to bump the idle up with the stop screw on the throttle body.

What's causing your idle to fluctuate?

The idle adjustment screw alone will not flow nearly enough air. The IACV is usually at about 30% duty cycle. Without IACV control, you will stall every time you roll to a stop, every time your radiator fan comes on, every time you step on the brake. And the engine will vibrate and struggle to keep alive from idling so low.

I did not say idle adjustment screw. I said the throttle stop screw. Which will keep the throttle plate open just a touch to keep it from dieing.

Granted you will have to live with a higher idle, 1100 or so. But that is really the only way around it.

Oh that is really ugly. That throws off your TPS calibration.

That is the only way of going about it unfortunately.

And that is where it is necessary to have TPS and Map cut features for decel.

I'm not an expert here... but I have crome on a b18c1 and it idles just fine... even on a basemap with no adjustment to the throttle position. (it's on a p72 with p72 code tho)

And it should idle just fine if you have a functioning Idle Air Control Valve...

The only reason to touch the throttle stop is if the car will not idle after disabling the IACV or not having one at all.
