Simple question. what do i need to get my car tuned ? So far im under the assumption that all I need is a tunable ecu p28 p30 etc chipped with which ever program I choose, crome pro more than likely . Is that all or do I also need to buy - Moates Ostrich Eprom Emulator ($175) and the Crome PRO License ($149) . Keep in mind im not doing the tune myself . A bit of direction would be much appreciated .

if you are not doing tuning yourself, all you need is an ecu. The tuner will have the rest.

So does that mean that I dont have to commit to a single program ? The tuner tunes with whatever he or I decides ? I dont even need it pre chipped ?

Talk to your tuner if your not looking to DIY the ECU chipping or any of the tuning. The tuners that I have talked to will give you a complete package. So all you will have to do is show up with your car. No need for you to buy anything if you do it that way.

Granted I have a p28 on hand right ? Im now running a dinan (BMW company) chipped usdm p13 . I dont know how they ( previous owner ) managed to chip a p13 but they did . I've been on xenocron checking out their tuner packages. I called, and chris told me all i would need was a chipped p28 . My local tuner shop guy told me that if I used crome , ostrich would also be a good idea to make tuning easier , this is whats confusing me .Their are so many options to choose from and all I want at this juncture is a way to tune my H22A prelude with new cam profiles no egr S2 intake mani etc .

What are you looking to do here? The way your asking the question It sounds like you just wanted to know what you would need to get your car ready to take to a tuner.... But if your talking about tuning your car yourself then you need a bunch of stuff on top of the Chipped P28 ECU.

If your looking to do it yourself your going to need all the stuff listed on the DIY packages from Xenocron. And that is the bare minimum for DIY Tuning.

To do it yourself you need,
- A chipped ECU with an editable EPROM chip. (Your chipped P13 may work?????) but for sure your P28 with a chip kit would work for sure.
- Software
- Chip Burner / Ostrich (still recommend a chip burner to burn a chip an put into the ECU after you finished tuning with the ostrich)
- Data logging capabilities both hardware (Hulog or Hondalog) & Software (Crome free dose not support data logging)
- Wideband O2 for logging precise AFR's

- Crome (Pro)
- Moates Burn1 / Ostrich
- Hulog
- Innovate LC-1 with gauge

This exact kit is available from Chris @ Xenocron

Thanks for clarifying . I will more than likely indulge in the world of diy tuning after i've seen it done a few times by a pro . I will get what is necessary in starting that process .
