Default Crome and "Real Time Programming"

So- part of this is already discussed in my other thread but I have another question. I have crome and was able to find a few bins. I'm not entirely sure if I have found the correct bin for my car. I'm still trying to learn this stuff.

Theres an option in crome called Real Time Programming. I'm having trouble finding specific info so this is just a shot in the dark but-
I just bought an OBD2 cable that I can use with software to monitor my car. Would I be able to use that to put data into a basemap in crome or somehow use it with crome?
Use how the car is behaving to collect data and then be able to create a more personalized basemap.

Also, has anyone located a bin file for a 97 Accord Ex? PGMFI.org is missing the file

the obd2 cable does nothing, as crome is used for obd1 ecus only. you'll need to get the ostrich unit for real time programming, along with a chipped ecu and datalogging cable and obd2 to obd1 jumper harness.

Read http://www.phearable.net/tech/efibeginnerguide.html

You cannot use crome with an obd2 ecu
You cannot use an obd2 cable to tune an obd2 ecu in a 97 accord.

I just looked up more info and saw. I've been to all these sites. I already have a chipped p28 ecu but am not comfortable with the basemap. I'm trying to find a way to get data from my car so that I can make a basemap that I'm most comfortable with. And no there are no dynos around here.
So, basically my question is
What things do I need to get a good basemap for a chip?
Crome
Chip burner
ostrich?
What else?

Tons of resesrch and a wide band or all else is a waste.

Yeah, Ive been doing a lot of research for a while now but theres stuff I dont really understand. Ive been looking into a wideband sensor as well.
Itd just be easier to see a way someone has gone about it exactly in a similar scenario and how everything works together.
Linear approach- I get confused by all the different possibilities and varying answers

1. Chipped OBD1 ECU

2. OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness & hulog

3. Ostrich or Demon RTP (real time programmer)

(this is my tuning ECU with Ostrich and hulog mounted to the cover)

4. Laptop tuning software and wideband O2 hardware (Innovate wideband O2 )

If you are getting confused by all of these variables do your self a favor & get a hondata s300 system installed into your ecu with free installation & a free basemap:
http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcar...ages-p-39.html

This will allow for a single USB cable to be used to tune your vehicle via real time tuning/datalogging etc.

I am assuming you have a wideband oxygen sensor gauge, if you don't get one aswell.

Ok. I see my options now. And thanks ghost for the pics. They help- I'm more visual which is why some of this confuses me. I've read through a lot of stuff over the past few weeks and am still trying to get the hang of it.
So my last question is-
I have a 97 Accord, a laptop and a chipped p28 ECU. Considering I only have bolt on mods to my car but I still wanna improve its performance. Is it worth it getting all these things and doing it all myself, purchasing from Hondata or just stop wasting money and save up for a TSX? -Id love a TSX...
I'm kinda spending the money and time to get to know cars better but while reading all this I cant really tell how complicated of a situation I'm getting into. And to go out and buy everything I would be risking a lot of money.
I can follow stuff step by step but when there are discrepancies or just information in the form of words- that is no one I can verbally speak with to show me things or videos on how to do things- I have trouble.

You just answered your own question about all of this tuning confusion. If you want a TSX save up and buy a TSX. IMO it's not worth it to spend money on a car that you don't really want.

well then it would be a waste to spend $1000 + but for me i could never be satisfied with the tsx 1000 rpm of vtec. I would get the rsx s ecu and a reflash/tune it my self. Wakes those cars up for sure .

Well dont get me wrong. I love my Accord. Its a great car and easy to mess around with. The question is am I getting in over my head with a 15 year old car?
I wanna learn the stuff behind performance tuning but I also want it to pay off. Would my time and money be better invested in a TSX? I like them and I see that the ECUs can be reflashed. But unfortunately the newer the car, the harder it is to break the system and modify it from what I see. I was thinking an 05 TSX. But this Accord is helping me learn the stuff. Would continuing in this direction- invested in tuning equipment be of help once I finally get a newer car? I see that car computers are getting smarter.

I like the rsx but I'm looking for a four door. I kinda like something that doesnt exactly look like a sports car but acts like it- but I also want a car that I can be proud to say that I made it that way.

comes down to money and personal preference. enthusiests always end up tuning cars, could be cheaper with older ones but at the same time,f22b vs k24 then yes k24 is newer and can be fully tuned with rsx ecu and hondata. would make more power.

At the same time,do you plan to swap, boost or anything? Lots of options.

Ill just delete my price comparison ramble...

Are we looking at a future where ECU tuning like we speak of now is obsolete with chipped ECUs? Should I just move on to a newer car and start learning about performance tuning from there? Thats basically my dilema with all this. Cuz I have learned quite a bit from my car already. I just don't wanna dump too much money into it. Or is there farther I can go with my accord without spending a lot of money? I thought I might be able to find some simple solutions to tune my car with but it may not be worth the energy.

Thanks for the links BTW- I hadnt come across these ones before. I just tried an Acura forum and some other places. Ill take a look at them. I definitely want a tsx someday.
