Default Chipped P08 ECU

I just picked one of these up from Winfab and tried to install it into my car to get the D15vtec running correctly and the plugs from the harness dont fit and is missing 2 plugs. The regular CX-D15B8 ECU has one plug, the P08 has three.

What should I do to fix this?

Are you sure your looking at the ECU and not the TCU?

Most USDM OBD1 cars have three connectors. There is the rare P72/5 ??? that has 4 but I think it is JDM.

What make/model/year car are you trying to put this ECU in?

Do you have any pics of what it is that you bought.

none of the post 87 Honda ECUs have one plug.
the P08 will plug right into a CX's harness, the P05's and P08's plugs are identical other than the additional VTEC wire for the P08.

GhostAccord - the JDM Auto trans P72 has four plugs. I've never heard of the P75 having the same thing, but there are a lot of ECUs out there to be discovered.

The Civic is a 1994 CX hatch. I must have been looking at the TCU then. I figured the ECU looked a little small for the size it was. The place I looked was the middle of the dash behind the shifter.

Where should I look.

Yeah that's why I putt the ??? after the /5. I couldn't remember if it was the P72 or the P75 that had 4. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well I have plugged the ECU in the car and started it up and it did exactly what it did with the stock ECU, it revved high, but within a few moments of running the car dropped in idle and revved normal. It did this for about 2 minutes and then shut off.

After it shut off I tried starting the car again and it did not want to start it would turn over, but would not fully crank.

I have learned that I have no engine or tuning experience after this whole [freak]ing ordeal. Any ideas on how this car can run, I have exams this monday and it seems that I am going to fail 2 courses because I wont be able to make it up to the college.

the P08 is a single wire O2, OBD1 VTEC ECU. (P05 is a single wire O2, non VTEC ECU)
As far as wiring in the car, the only difference between the P05 and P08 is the single VTEC wire.

I've run a P08 in a CX before, disable the VTEC output and I had zero problems. (ran it in a VX, EX and DX as well)

which chip is in the P08? it's possible the issue is in the chip. Where did you get the chip? (if you say ebay you may get a few laughs)

are you getting spark? fuel?
checkout the IACV (commonly damaged when shipping honda engines)
the main relay (disturbing the car's wiring tends to cause this issue to pop up)

other than that, it's going to depend on what you find when checking everything out.

The ECU came chipped from Winfab tuning.
