Car won't start help!

Car won't start help!
Hi everyone, Im kinda of new to this forum.
So, please go easy on me. The bad news about my car is that I have an engine problem and its only a couple of years old. Im the orginal owner, From what I know there is a loud noise comming from the engine bay as soon as it trys to start itself. I had a engine tech come and take a look at it which he discovered its the piston connecting rod. Just how bad of an issue is this and will my engine ever be the same after I presumably fix the issue. Car is bone stock , no mods.
