Icon2 Can a re-tune wait?

I currently run Neptune. I was tune with a 57 trim and I am upgrading to a t67, installing a bosch 044 and skunk2 pro 1's. Gsr cams in now. Spoke to a tuner, and as long as stay out of boost, and get the fuel pressure stable around where it was before the upgrade, I should be fine with the fuel and turbo upgrade. My concern is the cams. I am confident that my mechanic who I will not name, but is very popular on this board, says he can get it to run. Running is different than relaibilty until I can get re-tuned. I will need the car to drive until the re-tune. Is it possible to ride easy with all 3 upgrades without re-tuning right away? Thanks for any helpful input.

The cams would be degrred in, but not dialed in. If that's is even 2 different things. I know when I get re-tuned the cams would be dialed in. When just putting them in before that, they would be 0 degreed. Please correct me if I'm wrong or let me know if this is not possible before I waste a lot of time and more money. thanks

Skunk2 recommended centerlines should be referenced when setting base cam timing. You do not need to degree in the cams if you plan on tuning cam timing on the dyno. If you plan on setting cam timing and not tuning it, ‘degreeing’ is a good practice but not necessary IMHO. I have installed 7 sets of Pro-series cams, ranging from Pro1’s to Pro3’s, and I usually end up around 0 intake +4 exhaust.

If you go by Skunk2 centerlines, you should be around -1 Intake / +2 Exhaust for Pro1’s.

As for your tune, if you have closed loop enabled, stay out of boost and let the O2 sensor trim the AFR's for you.

I had a customer do a similar swap i cams and drive 6 hours down from NY.

He switched from ITR cams to Pro1s in an 81mm block. But adding the fuel pump into the equation might make it a little more of a pain. But I definitely think it is doable.

how ironic. I'm actually waiting for this work to get done on my car to schedule a retune with jk. lol. Man I sure hope my car will be done soon. Last time I got tuned it was 100 degrees out. Now it's looking like it may be 32 degrees when I get tuned at this rate or repairs. lol
