Default bare minimum

I have a 1990 integra dirt track car for my next race season. I have an ls vtec with a gsr head going into it. Anyways, I want to make the car completly bare bones in every aspect so it is easy to trouble shoot and fix at the track. I think I'm probably better off buying some spools of wire and making my own harnes. My question is: what is the absolute bare minimum that I need to wire to make my motor run? Are there any links that anyone knows can help me?

Just go through the ECU inputs/outputs in the service manual and mark each necessary input or output as critical. Everything else can be removed. You just have to split out the drivetrain wires from the cabin harness and start a new harness for just the drivetrain.

• TDC Sensor (Top Dead Center Sensor)
• CKP Sensor (Crankshaft Position Sensor)
• CYP Sensor (Cylinder Position Sensor)
• MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor)
• ECT (Engine Coolant Temp Sensor)
• IAT (Intake Air Temp Sensor)
• TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
• HO2S (O2 sensor)
• VSS (Vehicle speed sensor)
• Baro Sensor
• ELD (Electronic Load Detector)
• Starter Signal
• Alt. FR Signal
• Battery Voltage
• Brake Switch Signal
• VTEC Pressure Switch

....some of these can be disabled with the use of a tunable ECU and tuning software.

Here is a list of things you might need and were left out on the list:

IAB (part of the GSR intake manifold) aka the butter fly valve (can be removed mechanically and in programing)
IACV (controls idle) <-needed/recommended
Knock Sensor (found on some motors) <- I typically only remove on cars that will be going 200 more RPM than stock or if the vehicle is using an unsuported ECU.

BTW (critical) you are missing Tach signal which the ECU needs to determine where on the map (program) it is running.

From that list the things that can be removed via programing or a custom chipped ECU are as follow:

Knock
ELD
Atmospheric Pressure Sensor (Not present on all ECUs)
Injector Test Circuit (Injector selection based meaning factory vs non etc)
O2 Heater
