Default Advancing the dizzy on a boosted motor...

I got my CRX tuned a couple of months ago by a really
good tuner and am very happy with it. I asked for it to be tuned mild on the ignition maps and he had done as I asked....

Now. I am going to the local drag strip this weekend and would like to increase the timing. It's tuned on eCtune and I don't have the licence to adjust it myself. This got me thinking...

Would it be a bad idea to change the static timing from the current 16* to 17*? I know it would up the timing all over the map but it's real tame!

On WOT between 5k-7k it's set around 19* btdc then from 7k to 8.6k (redline) it dips down to 18.75* btdc

I just feel that 1* won't do any harm.

The engine is a forged B18c4 (GSR) with eagle rods, cp 9.8:1's and full ITR head with victor x inlet. T35 blower and 3" down pipe. currently running 0.5 bar and producing 267bhp and 180 fb

what are you thoughts on advancing the dizzy?

Oh yeah the car is run on 99 octaine fuel. nothing else ever!

I do not recommend messing with the ignition timing on a car that has been tuned by an experienced tuner. 1 degree will probably do nothing but the fact is the tuner set the tune up the way he did for a reason.

i agree with mtber, but 1 degree is enough to mess up a good tune. leave it.
no reason to up it.

That makes real good sense. I will leave it well alone. Thanks for you input.

Wish me luck this Saturday at the drag strip!

Although generally it's not a good idea and I agree with the boys above, you're not making enough positive pressure for 1* to risk detonation on a conservative tune. I say go for it.
