Default 4 channel pyrometer controller

anyone has any suggestions to a nice 4 channel EGT controller? what methods of attaching the probes to the turbo manifold (cast) runners do you suggest? can a clamp style be used in a high pressure and heat environment?

How bout an AEM 4-Channel K-Type Thermocouple Amplifier? As long as you have something that accepts an analog signal for logging; The sensors are much cheaper than RTD style sensors and have a larger heat range.

Not sure on mounting style but I do not think clamp style would be recommended or even available(on the k-type thermocouple).

i looked at that and the TC-4 by Innovative, the main issue is lack of monitoring. i am used watching EGTs on a display on the instrument panel on an aircraft and would like the same.
this is what i found so far

this is the sort of clamps we use on the lycoming engines

Nice looking kit there. If you are used to viewing your EGT's on a HUD than that one looks like a sound choice. The only draw back would be logging the info for tuning purposes.

As for the mounting clamps, AEM uses something similar for O2 sensors. I don't see any drawback to having it mounted in that manner. It's just aesthetic look and possible error of installation that i shy away from that approach. Welding on bungs would be clean and there is peace of mind not worrying about a clamp vibrating loose.

can those bungs be welded onto a cast manifold? will an AEM or the TC-4 unit be able to transmit and display the data on a TunerView, for example?

Yes they can be welded to cast manifolds. As for the Tunerview, so long as it has inputs for either serial connection or 0-5Vanalog connection, the data should be transferable and viewable

If it can output 0-5v references to the EMS then the TunerView can use that information.
