What modifications do you have to your engine that will make use of a performance chip?

The best chips available are those that are custom made buy a tuner for an OBD1 ECU that has been modified to be tuned/chipped. If you have emissions testing that requires a computer scan the OBD1 ECU is out of the question. Most of the Ebay or "performance chips" that you can buy already programmed and state that they make xx amount of Hp on a stock engine are a waste of time.

I have no engine mods. I just want a decent chip to gain some HP and fuel economy.

If your d16y8 engine is completely stock and you are running a stock intake, header, exhaust etc. The best ecu for you is the stock ecu. Chipping the ecu won't do anything for you on a completely stock y8.

Do your self a favor and don't spend money on the B.S. "chips" or "modules" that increase power and hp for any car etc... They are snake oil.

i'd recommend one using a silicon-type semiconductor.
