Default Timing chain cover install

Has anyone used something other than RTV for the install of one? And how well did it work?

Hondabond. Toyota bond (Black) would be my next choice. "RTV" is NOT a proper choice.

Good RTV can also be used like Loctite etc.

OK, sure h1tman. Obviously, we have differing philosophies with respect to building engines. I have offered the RIGHT solution to the OP's inquiry... you offered and supported an "alright" solution. This is the difference between meticulous engine building and just slapping it together. Then again... what do I know.

And do you also use Honda coolant, Honda engine oil etc? There are sometimes better solutions than OEM are offering. Some RTVs are as good as Hondabond or better (witch is also an RTV silicone). Not using Hondabond is not slapping it together, lol.
I`m using Loctite SI 5980 and never had a leak caused by this stuff.

So, in your opinion... Loctite SI 5980 is a BETTER product than HondaBond ???

Nope, just saying I'm using it and I'm happy with it.

Personally I've never had an issue substituting Permatex Ultra Grey for Hondabond. FYI, Hondabond is a "room temperature vulcanizing" (RTV) silicone.

what's a timing cover? Never heard of it. LOL

Yes, I don't have one in my car.
No, it's fine and I'm not worried about something logding into the moving parts (timing belt, crank pulley, etc)

I believe this is in reference to timing chain motors. You would have a pretty massive oil leak without the timing cover in this case.
