Stripped headbolt hole....
Hello all,
I have a D16y8 I was assembling and I ended up stripping out a bolt hole because I was using an unfamiliar torque wrench. I need to fix it as a result. I've seen the timesert kits but they're pretty spendy; and I haven't heard or seen anything good with helicoils in Honda blocks. Anyone have any other suggestions, or should I just still explore the timesert option. There may be a machine shop in the PDX metro area where I stay that may be able to put one in. Thanks!

i havent used timerserts for that particular repair but i've used them for several other locations on the car and i cant say enough good things about them. they are pricey, but they are well worth it in my opinion. i forget if i got mine off ebay or off amazon, both were pretty comparable in terms of price.
Timserts are pretty much the only option you have. I have installed them on a Toyota 2zrfe engine, they have a bulletin about it and it's kinda scary but as long as you take your time and pay attention your good.
Using some ARP head studs will reduce the risk of stripping them in the future. And use caution when reusing headbolts. After a while, they can lose their "stretch" and you risk over torquing them.
Thanks for the replies peeps; I will just start looking for a machine shop that will put one in. My current machinist doesn't like them or guarantee them. I don't understand why for the life of me though. Thanks y'all!

I own and have used the timesert kit. It works. period.
It's easy to do in car if you prep right too. If you're anywhere near MD I'll repair it for you with the kit for $50.
