What would be best way to go about this predicament money wise with the block and is it fixable? Also should I just purchase a shell and swap over everything in new EK shell or try to repair frame damage? Kinda leading to just getting a shell and swapping over everything.
The block is fixable - actually fairly easy to fix if you have the piece that broke off. Take it to a competent TIG welder and they should be able to weld you back together. Then all you need to do is install a Timesert for the threads.
Were this 20 years ago, I'd say yes, get another shell. But they aren't as plentiful as they once were. Depending on how nice the rest of the car is, it may be worth trying to fix. The core support can be replaced. If the frame is totally jacked, you could even have a place chop it off, weld on a plate, then weld up some tubing to recreate the front part of the frame rail. Or you can put it in another shell...if you find one.
