If either or both cannot be done then "No" to your forum.
Post count doesn't accurately correlate to somebody's knowledge though. Take yourself for an example.

The moderator approved post thing you suggested could actually work. But that would be solely on the mods...

We have to face it. There is ALWAYS going to be noobs posting stupid **** and basic questions that don't belong in here.

With a specific forum related to machining, I think the topic content itself would deter these "help my **** broke" threads.

They would most likely post in a different sub forum where all the other "Help my ***** broke" threads are (tech/misc, 92-00 civic, etc).

A new fresh technical forum. Strictly tech.
Machining, Blueprinting, and Precision measuring of Honda engines. No dumb **** allowed.

You wouldn't vote yes to that?

Machinists can discuss their theories, practices, tools they use, experiences, etc. Could be a place to have in depth discussions on head work, flow, cfm, or hell, even engine theory.

It does seem much more sensible to pile up all the VERY useful info into a sub section. Collectively, we have A LOT of info to post.
YES YES YES!!
This is what I'm talking about!
Thanks for voting!

Completely 200% agree once a person clicks on the sub forum and sees a complex technical question such as in an example " proper cross hatch pattern on a ductile iron sleeve with a arias piston" they will high tail it back to the lighting forum.

It will also help shed light on inferior race parts that may have lost quality control that could potentially ruin a sound build. We have seen big problems with "the no brainer" usual race parts that have feel off and can cause catastrophic damage to a race / street engine.

You don't see me making stupid "fix my ****" threads either, do you?

The people that have their **** together don't make those threads.

The ******* n00bs go to where the action is to get attention, whoring their non sequiturs. ******* halfwits with the incredibly ignorant questions who blatantly abuse the "tech" subforums typically have less than 1000 posts. If someone with a heap of posts from the GDD forum comes and slips through the cracks then I leave it to the moderators to clean up.

Otherwise, ban asshat rookies and their broken junk with extreme prejudice for shitting all over a tech forum. It's about deterrence. Let the rest of the internet become H-T's penal colony.

I won't vote "Yes" for yet another subforum for which there is no screening process.

Voted yes. All for expanding the knowledge base.

Sure there are plenty of resources out there for best practices and general engine building, but I haven't found a forum that directly applies to the specifics of our engines.

I understand unfortunately it happens and we don't see it. What does help us mod's out if people click on the report button under the users name. This will allow us to see if the thread is irrelevant and requires deletion. We all try to stay vigilant with screening but like you said some fall through the cracks. We also don't want to alienate those members that are new and don't understand exactly how the tech sections work.

Wait, then they need to clarify what the report button is actually for then. Last time I checked it wasn't for threads that need to be moved... Have anything supporting that claim?

The report post is basically for ANY post that is against the TOS rules. A thread can basically be reported by reporting the actually 1st post which is reporting the thread. Then you can explain in detail why exactly the post or thread is being reported .

AWESOME!!! Glad we got this going!!! My only gripe is it should say "Engine Building" as right now it is weird with just "Builders". Or at least say "Engine Builders".

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I think "Engine Assembly" or "Engine Blueprinting" would be a better term.
"builders" for some reason makes me think of home construction lol. But Im not bitching!

Will Machinists / Engine Builders work?

How about "Engine Machining/Engine Assembly"?

"Assembly" sounds more professional than "building" in my opinion.

or even " Engine Machining/Engine Blueprinting"

"Machinists/Builders" describe the people doing it, and not necessarily the topics contained within.

Yes, I 100% agree. I was a little too hung up on the Building aspect as it is what was already given. I definitely like "Engine Machining / Engine Assembly". My issue with Blueprinting is it's part of the assembly / building process. Assembly covers the entire thing.

good point about the term "blueprinting".

So how does "Engine Machining/Engine Assembly" sound?
