Hey guys, I just picked up a GSR long block for $400. I really just needed the head off but it was a good deal so I figured I would get it.
I started checking out the block and the internals seem to be fine and the motor rotates smooth when I turn it.
The problem is that the post bracket bolt holes have seen better days. There are three holes in the shape of an upside down triangle. 2 holes on top and a single hole on the bottom. The bottom hole is fine and the bolts threads in no problem. The top left hole is stripped and broken. A chunk of the side of the whole is broken off. I'm wondering if a machine shop can build the side up and fill the hole and re-tap it to the correct size. The top right hole just looks like it was drilled out to large and wondering if a shop can fill this hole as well and re-tap it to the correct size.
Is that a pretty standard procedure? Even if the top right can be repaired i'd be happy. If I can't repair the top left hole I was thinking about using some sort of grout or epoxy to do like a post installed stud in the hole and use a nut on it.
Is there maybe an insert that can be bought with a threaded inside?
Thanks for any help.

bring it to a shop, they will weld the area up and re-tap/drill the holes for you. Bring them the post mount you plan on using as well as a template for where the holes should be.
