New Drift car in Formula D
why am I posting here? you'll see...
first of all, it's not a new car... just a new scheme and a new driver.
A'pexi had a garage sale this last weekend, and the big event was an unveiling of Mazda's 2007 Drift car.

The Driver:
2004 D1 Champion Ryuji Miki

The Car:
Apex's former D1 car

Notice some similarities? color scheme? paint job? etc? That's right, Bergenholtz Racing will be involved in the campaign this year

the Dorifto, fun, but boring at the same time... but im sure some of the drifters feel the same way about drag racing.
did they put a 4cyl in that rx7 like their racecars? or is it still rotary ?

Why not drift - any form of racing works for me ...... Not 1 person on this forum would turn downa drift team if it was given to them. Racer's dont care what thye do as long as they have a chance to beat someone else
I would like the car alot more if it was racing in Modified class, not gay figure skating, i mean drifting...
But at the same time i understand you gota do what the money tells you to do...

It's just what it is - hating on stuff thats "new" or "different"
I get pm's and text and post on this site about me being a "sale out" and worse - But the simple fact is that I want to race....race.....race. If someone called and said they would help me race a shifter cart - jr. dragster - road race or drift I would be on my way before the call ended.
To me it's about the race - who wins period. And I do this for the love of winning and learning, this past weekend was the hardestr weekend of my little racing life....but best believe we have the car apart and are working it out now.
Another thing to look at is the people that help you get to races. These companies need people to see you the driver / the teams and cars anywhere and everywhere. So if Ron and Ed can get the sponsors more press and have a drift car / pfwd / sfwd and even a kid on a skateboard then why not.
Dont hate on people because you dont like what they do - its not you right so leave it !! Or better yet step up and try to beat them --

I hate drifting with a passion because to me, it's not really racing.
I think it's more artistic than anything. You can't tell me that sliding sideways everywhere is the fastest possible way from Point A to Point B.
I do think it's "fun" to drift in parking lots when it's wet out and stuff. I personally, just see it as pretty annoying and not a true type of racing. I also think that 99% of the cars that are built for it look like *** with huge wings, kits, and gay multi-colored graphics.

Who cares if it's "really racing". I'll tell you what, the D1 events that i've been to were a hell of a lot more entertaining than watching the Dallas NOPI race, 2-4 pro cars per class. Bye run after bye run....
Professional drifting is entertaining, 2 cars side by side at over 100mph coming into a turn sideways, lap after lap, is more exciting than most of sport compact racing today...
The local drift events and kids screwing around in their 94 240sx's is a totally different story.

Figured this would be public soon....
Well, this is officially the new car in the Bergenholtz Racing stable. First, I would like to say that Bergenholtz Racing is not going to leave Sport Compact Drag Racing. We are on top of our game in NHRA and it wouldn't be fair to ourselves, our competition, our sponsors and more importantly, our fans to move completely over to drifting. We are drag racers at heart and love this industry. We will continue to give our very best and push the sport compact drag racing movement to new levels. We like to think that we really were a part of building sport compact drag racing and is a reason why Ron, myself and the rest of the team have a lot of passion for it.
As for the Bergenholtz Racing Drift Car, this was a concept that was put together by us and our long time friends at A'pexi USA. Ron and I have always found ways to make smart business decisions to help keep Bergenholtz Racing growing. Being a smart businessman requires one to keep an open mind before making important decisions. After looking at the holistic picture, it's easy to see that drifting has no significant impact on what we do in sport compact drag racing. If you do your homework, sport compact drag racing is undeniably growing larger, even with drifting existing. Drifting and Drag Racing are two totally different animals but do share somewhat the same demographics. With that, we have created this new drifting avenue to expand our winning tradition for us and our sponsors. Again, we are expanding, not moving or consolidating away from drag racing.... drag racing is in our blood. We are still gunning for the 2007 NHRA PRO-FWD Championship!
Bergenholtz Racing is growing. Getting involved and working with some good people in the Drift community is an exciting example of it. Venturing into other motorsports is all part of the natural evolution of a successful race team.
Thanks to our sponsors and to all of you guys out there who believe in us..... after all these years of Bergenholtz Racing we'll be sure not to let you down.
Don't worry we still love you guys....be sure to cheer us on at the races
Ed B.

I wouldn't consider myself to be close minded, but I just flat out don't like drifting. Just like I think Nascar is boring as well as road racing (although I love F1). Most motorsports events are cool to watch live but the **** is a yawn on television. Come to think of it, NOPI coverage is a bore to watch. Hearing and smelling the cars in person is way different.

thats my problem, ive never been to a real drift event, i would imagine those would be extremly entertaining.
ive only been to the "E-town drift out wednesday's" a few times, where they only let 1 car go at a time.
although i did get to see signal auto put on a pretty good show.

Professional drifting can deal with, but the guys with 240's that rent a parking lot and just do donuts and call themselves drifters...
Doing donuts in parking lots has been done yrs ago by the domestic guys....Oh yea and stuff like this is just blah

That statement sounds like when the V8 guys talk about our 4cylinder import cars .
People say weird things when they dont understand something or give it a chance.

i agree, its not racing, i dont understand how you can argue that it is. beating someone because of style points does not constitute racing. unless theres some new rules that i dont know about.
then again i dont like watching nascar, hell even F1 doesnt do it for me. the only thing i actually watch motorsports wise is motocross/supercross and WRC everything else is just blah.
