Had you posted the exact same video under a screen name like "duallycalishizzle" 20 people would have called you names, somebody would have jumped your *** for pissing off road atlanta, and RJ would have posted "get the **** out" and locked the thread.

But... Whatever.
You go enjoy your granola.

Is this honda-tech social commentary, or are you calling Chris C an asshat?

I presume the former.

Think outside the box.
That sentence doesn't necessarily need an "or" in it.

Scott, who says "jackassery" should be determined by what it is, not who is doing it.

PS - Chad, like the old skool umpire, I just calls 'em as I sees 'em.

There is no hate for NASA. We are just playing good cop/ bad cop so that this thread will stay at the top of the list, more people will download the vid, see the Hfest site and come out to watch Honda Challenge at Summit Point on July 16. Scott gets a free entry for himself to do this.

Peace,
C

Agreed. But why is this jackassery? Maybe I missed something, but I thought this was just a simple exhibition of drifting. . . . by a dually. Was this just some clowning around in the parking lot, without the proper authorizations?

Think of it as a "do what I say, not what I do" thing by an all around good guy who occasionally has the same lapses of maturity that we all do. Though not the right thing to do, I have EVERY confidence that Chris wouldn't have done it if it wasn't 100% safe.

It was put up here so we could share a good laugh, let's not blow it out of proportion.

This was just up here for fun.

...and I was safe. You can just barely tell at the end but I was wearing one of our very stylish and highly sought after bright orange NASA loaner helmets.

All right. I'm outta here. I'm slammed with getting HFest ready and only have my eyes above the water right now. See you guys at the track!!

Catch....at this point on this board, you don't really have to reply or comment, if the topic involves cobetto or NASA, just put

"catch 22 standard comment #1", we all already have a pretty specific idea of what that opinion is ;-)

So the next time some poor 18 year old n00b from southern cali posts up a video of himself drifting around in circles in an empty parking lot (you know... Safely), all you hypocritical jacknobs are going to leave him alone... Right?

Nobody is going to jump him for doing it somewhere without permission?
Nobody is going to inform him that this isn't a drifting forum?
Nobody is going to state their rather unpleasant opinion of drifting?
RJ isn't going to lock the thread?

Just checking, because those things ARE what normally happens when somebody posts up something about drifting in this forum.
If you don't believe me, go back and check. Really. Just go back and check.

Scott, who may soon be forced to start "Misrepresenting with the quote button" again.

Depends who it is. If it's someone I know or a regular to this forum. I'll slap them on the back and congratulate them on a job well done in entertainment for the day.

If it's someone I don't know, I'll do a profile search and kinda do a follow up back round check. You know kind of find out how many posts the person has, how long they've been here, what forums they frequent, and find out what kind of all around Honda-Tech member they are. Once that's done, I may go as far as to PM some of the RR/AX regulars and see if they know them before making my decision. I may applaud them again, based on my findings, or I may have to give 'em the boot and procede to the following.

If it's some punk *** n00b though, who thinks they are the coolest thing since mowed grass, well you can best be sure I'll flex my H-T muscles and let them know that myself and all of my RR/AX brethren do NOT appreciate what they did or what they are continuing to do and they need to either stop what they are doing and go volunteer at a local community center, kill themselves now, or let Darwin decide for them. Either way, let it be known, they will get a severe thrashing and they will know better the next they think about stepping foot it OUR forum and disrupting our productivity. Heh. That's right.

I mean am I right, or am I right?

Seriously Scott, do you go out of your way to get your panties bunched over anything NASA? This has very little similarities to some kid trying to drift his corolla in a public parking lot. Ill point out why, but something tells me that you realize this already and are just really trying to be an ***.

1- It was an autoX, no one was running. Ie-- private closed course.
2- It was more of a skidpad than a mide tiiiite drifto battle stage.
3- Chris was wearing a helmet.
4- We all know that Chris isnt a jacknob and pretty much knows what he is doing. (or he just has us all fooled)
5- Context. It was a dually, its a little tounge-in-cheek. thats kind of the point.

Actually that was in 2004 at the Walter Mitty. We were helping GRM run the autocross there and that whole area was blocked off from the public. We were sitting around twiddling our thumbs because no one was autocrossing so we went to play in the rain. Apparently even though we had that area to autocross in the RA folks weren't too happy about the drifting but it made for some goofy footage.</TD></TR></TABLE>
