Drifting
I drive a 1992 Honda Civic Hatchback
Aight, I wanna start drifting, but using the e-brake is that gonna hurt anything?
and what should I look into doing to drift my car...so far its pretty much stock
I don't wanna be the king or nothing just wanna pull off some drifts safely and to where I can repeatedly...
I'm thinking of just getting an older Corrola GTS, Supra,Rx7,mr2 those type of vehicles...
any suggestions/idea's?
and the actual "drifting technique" I know will take time to learn and all that just saying should I start with this civic or move to something else and use the civic for something else?

i practice in the parking lot behind work...hehe, i love it when its wet, but be careful that ***** dangerous.
before you start doing major ****, get some suspension, nothing like performance handling on stock suspension

for the most part just practice and have fun. also dont let cops see you they get pissed about that for some reason ....?....

do what I did...82 Ford Escort 4 door. I was the e-brake king. I would go down parking spots the wrong way and e brake into a spot and not touch another car. I had a friend who had some property and we would rally through there all day getting down techniques and crap

funny you say Initial D...been watching a lot of that lately, but I've always enjoyed watching people drift...I've done stupid stuff in my car but I didn't feel as if I was in perfect control (in an empty parking lot)
the autocross'ing is what I'd also like to do....just need the money...If ur near atlanta Turner Field holds competitions...I dunno I'd like to go to that

if u want to feel how to control your car. i just finished reading some thread on puting trays on your rear, only works on fwd cars. n i tried it today. the trays wore out to quick, but it was funn as hell. of course it was in a dead industrial area near my place. it sort of felt likk you could whip the back of your car. but imo it was all fun.
initial D kicks ***!!! i got the whole dvd box set, and the extra stage and battle stage dvd....yaa hoo!!!! yeah the only thing that show makes you wanna do is get a silvia and move to japan

Stop watching Initial D, learn to control your car before you even think about drifting..go do some autocrosses and see how bad you do...
I would just get a rwd car, you can pick up an ae-86 for cheap, if you can find one. I see that you live in GA, you should check out the guys at Jarco Industries, there company specializes in importing half cuts from japan, they're in canton, and they are some serious drifters. As for the mr2, I can personally tell you that they are NOT meant for drifting, I've got a 91 turbo and I can't get that thing to go sideways to save my life, of course 225 50 16 Falken Azenis doesn't help that.
I think the whole drifting ordeal is just pointless but I won't hate I'll just cooperate...
What i did back a while ago along with other bafoons from Florida was to take 2 thick boards place them underneath the rear tires and pull the e brake up in an empty parking lot, take off slowly and voila.. instant drifting until the boards are wasted.. It fun, it makes you feel like a mini Teichi Cucaracha or whatever his name is

u dont just get a car and "drift"...u grip..before u drift. and as someone else mentioned, go to autox, or a open track event..see how hard it is to be FAST AND MAINTAIN TRACTION on purpose..before u try to be MAINTAIN NOT HAVING TRACTION..see how far u get.
and please, lay off the e brake *** dragging in civics. unless u compete in rally events in a FF car it can be helpful but in general, get off the nuts. everyone thinsk drifting is some over night lesson. initial d is fiction people, fiction. you are not the son of a tofu shop owner who had to get the tofu up and down the mountain the fastest way possible, stop. your dads name isnt bunta. its hollywood.

If you want to driff buy a RWD car. It will save you a lot of embarrassment when you get out there with the serious drifters
