does an s2000 make a good drift car
I would think the S2000 makes a good car to drift if you can do it safely!
If you don't know what the hell you are doing then it is not!

I think he meant if the S2000 is easy to drift (easy to provoke and control) relative to other cars. Obviously some cars like the new M3, Corvette fit this description. And I totally agree that you need to know what your doing, so else you'll wrap yourself around a pole like someone i know.
Keep in mind the S2000 powerband is WAYYY up high. You'll need to rev the **** out of it if you want to drift.
Light car though, I'd imagine it's a good drifter.

I don't see why not...I've seen S2k at autocross events that start with drifts when the course starts with a bend before the timer gates...
from all reports, it is incredibly diffficult to drift a s2000 properly.
keichii tsuchiya (the drift king) tried to do so and spun out on a wet track.
he stated, it required great skill to master but was very rewarding if done properly.
The basic problem lies in the edgy nature of the cars handling on the limit, as well as poor steering, power delivery etc etc...
The amuse s2000 and spoon s2000 addressed some of these problems and were much easier to drive.
the s2000 in stock forms has a lot of issues in terms of handling that need to be dealt with.. Steering feel is decidedly poor as well.

No.
1. its an expensive car.
2. its suspension dynamics and engine make it less "driftable" as roastbeef said.
you want to drift, get a beater. if you can find an 84-87 corolla gts AKA "Hachi Roku!" then it will be your cheapest bet. or just some crappy old mustang or camaro will work. Cheap, powerful, RWD, ugly. you dont wanna drift a nice car, thats all.

too much weight in the ***. The ITR rotates better.
I'll never drift my S2000 unless i am in a wide open space or a track...
This is completely subjective. Tire selection and suspension setup determine a cars drift capabilities. Power is a non-issue, if you can drift a RWD Corrola please note that you have three times as much torque to the wheels if you include gearing in the S2000.
Wanna see S2000's "drifting"? Buy S2000 **** Volume 2 from S2ki.com. The opening scene is one of my friends drifting his S2000 in the wet making a turn onto the freeway.

you CAN drift the s2000. my cousin owns one and while he was here in vegas we did some drifting. the ride is extremely mean though, so you have to really ride it hard (go fast, hard turns, e-brake) for it to be done properly. i advise to do it on a track, cuz if you damage your s2k, it's not cheap to fix. =\
besides, who the F*CK wants to wreck their s2k?
if you take your car to the track, you can ride it as hard as you want and if you screw up a drift, instead of wrapping it around a pole you ride into the grass. drift smart.

I think a $3000 90 240z makes a better drift car than a $30,000 roadster.
If you got the cash to risk it at least shoot some video!

cars that make nice amounts of torque at lower rpms are easier to drift, the s2k will have some trouble doing it since its a pure hp car, not torquey enough in my opinion.

i guess fwd cars are drift cars too...
