Default Who is into bracket racing?

Just wondering who in here bracket races and is pretty good at it. I know all the arguments about how heads up is the only way to go but at every event i go to there are about a million bracket racers and theres got to be some good ones around here.

i bracket alot. i built a faster car so not only can i compete in some heads up classes but so i can move up to the faster bracket classes! usually those are a little smaller. hopefully it wont affect my consistency. brackets can actually be really fun because youre really winning with your skill instead of your car. theres really a science to it but anyone whos really in to it knows that anyway. for the bracketeers!
btw heres a pic of my favorite kill. not the best pic but you can figure out who it is:

word. I started with a slow *** civic 4 years ago adn got hooked on racing in general. Now i am bulding my 2000 Si for both a local street bracket class and a few heads up classes. It only runs high 13's now (at 6000 feet elev.) but it is VERY consistant.

i love bracket racing. i'd still stay if it wasnt for wanting more out of the little D series engine.
After we finish the Pro Class car, im building another street CRX for bracket racing.

What kind of local bracket stuff is available for imports in your town(s)
We have a friday night class dedicated to just sport compacts. Its a lot of fun. I am currently the reining champ two years running and i think I will hav ethe fastest daily driven bracket car there.

At the tracks here they have import classes, but we can also run w/ the other cars if we so choose. I ran brackets in the Import Class most of the time, because while I was running pretty consistent, it is really hard to smote an older hot rod w/ an auto that runs its dialin everytime.

Bracket racing is definately addicting though. I never used to really care for it, but now I can't wait to go out and do it again this upcoming season.

bracket racing is fun.. only thing i am concerned to race are the old school 40-50 year old guys in Kharman Ghia's and old Bugs. they are so consistent by .1 sec

10 passes between 15.13 and 15.16 within 3 hours, all RT's between .510 and .550......all motor, 3 years ago????

Wanna bracket race?????

I was told by regulars racers that T&T I should bracket on Saturday nights. I was also ask NOT TO by my ex-high school sweethearts dad.

Wil, I think you meant .01 or even .001 for the VW's.

Yeah if I had and automatic, they are more likely to be the most consistent.

i have been bracket racing and once and a while heads up . heads up is alot harded if you dont have a fast car. but bracket racing takes more skill in my eyes becuase its all in timing the finish and dial in . heads up you just dump it and hope the other guy breaks

ya MB, hehe they are so consistent to .001 sometimes.

I thought I was consistent with my 3 14.11 passes at one race, until i raced some lone racer in a kharman ghiaa. and I just choked at the last round and lost to him. even with my good R/T, man... that guy was almost perfect on his dial in that it wouldnt have mattered how good my run was.

Bracket is the class to learn and hone the fundamental skills of drag racing.

Bracket is super competitive and lots of fun. Dont need a fast car, dont need a ton of money.....all you need is consistency.

I would recommend bracket racing to any racer looking to really find out just how good they really know their car...dialing in and running your dial with a high powered fwd car takes a little skill...especially a manual tranny.

Heads up is great with evenly matched cars......but there is something about watching a 10 sec car chase a 20 sec mini truck......the finish line is the place to be for the action!!! lol

yea quite a few times i raced like 10 sec starlets. talk about intimidation . thats when you gotta be on the top of your game , against one of them in the moeny rounds. you dont even gotta look where they are, you feel em coming .

In some of or street legal classes Ive raced some Very fast cars and won. It is a little scary at the tall end when a car passes you at 150 and youre putting along at 85.

yeah gotta watch out for those guys!!! line up against one of them you better be focused because hes probably been cutting AT LEAST mid .500s all day and he knows what his car will be doing at the top of the track. as much as i may loathe some vws i have alot of respect for the air cooled drivers (not fear respect ).

the thing that really bothers me is the usual domestic racer who slips in with their wives automatic beater. that irks me a bit because it seems to me that they think they are sneaking into easy money, but i also see it as a challenge and its that much sweeter when it to smote those guys!

Roger, here is a video of steve's near perfect bracket run at the last Survival Series. This is a run.. He ran .500 perfect light then ran 12.869 on a 12.86 dial.... and funny thing he needed all of it as his opponent was just as good... everyone was shocked.
http://www.vwsport.com/file/pafiledb...on=file&id=720

I loved to bracket race when i was allmotor... and I was one of those people, that others would try not to line up against haha... Best single day i ever had was i dialed 14.42 and ran 7 14.4's with all lights being below .550 and 6 of them below .525. Never have i been quite that consistent be usually with in a .1 when i have to run the out.

This is to all bracket racers. I give everyone who brackets races the most respect. First thing is if you win in any of the bracket classes i would say in my opinion that you can drive, and know your car very well. the next thing is that you have to compete with over 100 cars.. this translates to, if you win you should give whoever worked on your car and yourself mad props becasue i didnt fall apart after the first round, and it made so many passes . Hats off to all bracket racers (cowboy up) keep up the good work

yea i was one of those people too . At Summerslam i was just ona role, i was running consistant as hell , I won the b3 class on sat and went semis on sun , everyone there was telling me they dont want me at Etown anymore cuz i take all there money.
Brackets are fun , but i want to step up a notch and try to get noticed more inheads up class. Freaking Incognitto( Terry ) is always in modified mag and **** like that . They always get the hype. thats what im looking for for next year, if i dont qualify, ill go back to brackets to try and take home some cash

I bracket race all the time...I can't afford to play with the "big boys" in heads up racing, I have won a few of th local events and have a stack of trophies sitting at home...there are days that you're on.

I enjoy bracket racing because it's all reaction time, and how consistant you are, it involves you as a driver more than the heads up racing.

I used to bracket when the car was sohc automatic turbo, but now it's just to fast unless i go to midnight madness, then i'll have my fun. But yea, I was pretty good, I took second place in the points last year at IMSTAR. I'm still waiting on my damn trophy.
