When the car is being towed or driven around the pits yea, always makes noise. But with a pin-able rear wheel housing you can lift them up quick thus stopping that.

65 inches from the rear most part of the bumper to the back edge of the wheelie bar wheel

The standard most people follow is 65" behind the back of the car, so depending on where your mounting point is it could be 70" or 68" etc.

However, since most people don't have any rules to follow you could probably get pretty crazy now.

Make sure you make the thing adjustable and not just solid at one height. No one sets them up for a specific height because they have to be adjusted every pass. All the rules stated was that when you rolled up to the line, the wheel had to be able to spin.

Also, I recommend against one that can be unpinned and lifted for going through the pits. This is how I had mine setup and there was too much give and movement. I welded that solid and added one extra brace and that improved short times dramatically!!!!

65" from rear bumper, and make them solid. Run a light spring in back, like an 80lb and make sure your strut will hold it down on its own once it is compressed.
