Default Weird countershaft issue

Long story short. I tore up my 4th, countershaft and ring gear. Ordered a full gsr gearset and ring gear from a guy in California. He forgot to send the ring gear so I am using one of my friends gsr ones and giving him mine when it gets here. The ring gear and counter that came out were gsr ones and the new ring gear is for sure a gsr one comparing it to the one that came out. Here is what's happening:

New ring gear, old counter shaft, perfect:

New countershaft, no diff. Again perfect:

New counter (supposed to be gsr) and new ring gear (gsr):

As you can see, it will not go down all the way. There is a noticeable gap and it's causing the gearset to bind up. What gives?

IIRC, LS and GSR CSs have 15 teeth. But they are not interchangeable. Maybe its an LS countershaft, not a GSR?

Ring gear is not the issue based off my known gsr old counter and the new gear

if they are not interchangable that is most likely the issue

More than likely it is probably a LS CS. Check to see if there are two ID marks on it. If it has 15 teeth and two ID marks on it....it's a LS CS.

So if it an LS countershaft, make sure the gears are the right ratios. You can count the teeth, and I think divide the mainshaft gears by the countershaft. Or vice versa. And then compare them with the numbers in the ZealAutoWerks Tranny Calc. That will tell you what gears they are.
