Default Two step question

Hope this is the right forum for this? What does a 2 step do? I know how it sounds and that it lets your revs go to a set limit. But exactly how does it work? Does it act like a second rev limiter? I hope to be getting one soon and would like to know how it works. (cause I know I will be asked) TIA

The classic, MSD-style two-step rev limiter has one "main" limit that's active all the time, and a second rev limit that's activated by a momentary switch. Some aftermarket ignition boxes have a two-step built in (like the MSD 6520 Digital 6 plus) that can have the rev limits adjusted with dials, while more basic setups add a two-step control as an external module that uses plug-in RPM "pills" (like the classic MSD 6AL box, that normally has a single rpm pill for rev control - you can plug in an two or three step module).

Hope this helps.
