Default tuning

I have a b16a2 and I am trying to tune it better, right now I have just an intake header, cat and exhaust, and cam gears. Right now I have both cam gears advanced ten deg. Just looking for similiar set ups and what your gears are set at. maybe even those who have hp results from a dyno or times from track

Did you say ten degrees holy crap. You probably aren't making the best power like that unless you cam gears are installed a tooth off.

stock cams... im thinking 0 will be about perfect, but im not expert... I could see maybe +1 on he intake side.. but thats about it.

But again, wait for some of the experts to come on tell you. For the best results, hit a dyno.

A friend of mine didnt noe what he was doin when he adjusted his cam gears. he adjusted to +6 intake and -6 exhaust cuz he read somewhere on clubsi.com that, that would be the best way to make power.. Unfortunately, on his cam gears, each line was 2 degrees not 1 and every valve was bent when he started it up.. He drove it like that for 2 weeks wondering why his car was running like crap..

My advice is dont adjust cam gears unless you noe what you are doing, and are tuning them on a dyno. Just because something works on someone elses car, dont mean it will work on yours since all cars are differant.

Mike..

i agree that if you dont know your cam gears or dont understand timing too well, you really dont wanna mess with that.

on the other hand, since you have cam gears, and if you want to experiment, try -2, -2 on the gears with 18 timing. most combinations with b16 cams and 0, 0 on the cam gears cause max pressure alittle early in crank degrees.

This was just an example of someone's setup that worked to give more top end and maintaining mid range.

thanks guys set my cams back at zero and my ignition at eighteen. runs great. a lot better top end. I actually found out tonight that a equal shift with the cam gears like +5 and +5 will shift the powerband.
