traction bars or lsd
My car is coming together pretty quick and I'm trying to address the traction issues I'll be having once it's done.
My set-up is a 93 cx hatch.
fully built b18c botom end and stock head.
I'm shooting for about 450whp for next spring (limited by the turbo size)
I intend to have both items but as the money is flowing into the engine faster then I expected. I still have to purchase a roll cage and suspension. I'm going with skunk2 drag launch coils (stock shocks this season). I'll be running 225/50/15 bfg drag dradials (have those from last season).
My question is, where should I invest the money
traction bars? or an lsd?
I really wanted to go with a quaife lsd so I won't have the funds for both as of right now. Which would benifit me more?
I'm just trying to get my car back out on the track for next spring, I took this season off to build the engine and do a few other things....
Thanks

Well like I was saying I will have both, I was just wondering which one would be best to start with....It's going to be a continuous project, I'm just trying to get the car ready to have on the track come next spring.
Thanks for the input

so I take it that you drive the car everyday? or is it a fun car? if you dont drive the car that often then you can weld the stock diff (which will hold the 450whp with no problems. But it will be kinda hard to turn) I know there are going to be people that say you cant do this and what not, but I am running this in my 500+whp car and have no problems what so ever. But the question you have to ask your self is if you are going to want to pull the trans and everything later on to put in a diff or do you want to install traction bars that are easier?
It's just a project car. It's going to see very little street time. It's currently licensed for the street and will continue to be for as long as I can. I'm planning to do that so I can drive it to and from the track when needed (it's easier to just drive it to work then to the track instead of trying to park a trailer).....other then that street time will be limited to tuning (to and from the dyno, etc)...
I've heard of welding the diff, but neer looked into it... ...thanks for the info.....although downtime is no problem, traction bars will be a lot easier to install later on.....

Yeah if thats the case I would weld the diff untill you can get the money for a Quife or Kazz or what ever you where going to go with.

As soon as my drag radials are worn down i'll be replacing them with some slicks....so most likely next season....

who cares if its a stock diff and he is going to repace it anyway and he is not really going to put it on the street that much. Why would it matter if its bad or good, its just temp
Quaife lsd. Dont ever go cheap on the diff when it come to power 450 plus. get your traction bars over the winter. I see plenty of guys run 1.7's 60's w/o traction bars. but you gotta get some slicks if you wanna hook it up at the track.
don't weld the diff. it will come back to haunt you, i had a welded diff. and a piece of the weld came loose and it took out my trans. save your money up and do it right the first time instead of spending good money over bad.
welded diff's are fine as long as you have someone who knows how to weld. If the person doesnt know how to weld that great then you will have troubles..... I know of plenty of people who are running welded diff's and have been running them for 3+ years and have never had any problems with them
Thanks for the advice everybody, keep it coming...
A while back when i was researching lsd's I ran across a few threads about the OBX lsd....whats everyones oppinion of that lsd now?
I'm just trying to gather as much info before I make a decision...thanks again.
