Sumped tank question
Ok guys, I have an ek hatch and I'm sumping the tank for a dual Bosch 044 setup... Basically im trying to figure out the best way to vent the tank... I'm pulling the cover off where the factory feed and return are and making a plate to cover that up... I'm going to have a fitting welded into that for the return... Is there something I can put in that plate to act as a vent? The car is mainly track car but will be driven on the streets... I just wanna make sure I do this right so I don't have an issue of fuel sloshing out or an extreme fuel fume smell or anything like that... Any photos of how you have your setup done would be much appreciated
lol i just always hated after braking the big end that i had to wait for the fuel to fall back in and let the pump stop cavitation... or when you get low on fuel by accident it pretty much won't go anywhere lol

I am curious how most people are sumping their stock tanks, are you cutting out a chunk of the stock tank and then welding in the sump on? Or are some of you guys drilling a couple holes where the sump is gunna go then welding the sump on?
I'm running a stock tank sumped w/no rust or probs (besides like stated earlier if u slam on the brakes hard) but it hasnt been a big prob for me. I stripped my tank and drilled 5-6 holes and then welded a sump we bent up to it. Re-undercoated the tank and it's been good to go every since, AND the stock fuel gauge still works great..lol. I used the stock return off the cap and ran rubber hose to behind the bumper
hope that helps man

Randy, I am doing the exact setup you just named (Factory tank sumped with two -8's for the 044's, and -8 return welded to a cap in stock location) and I am going to use the factory vent. No point in overcomplicating things...
Roughly how much gas do you have to keep in the tank to avoid issues?
I noticed in a vid lately someone would shut their car off right after passing the 1/4 mile mark. Could tat have anything to do with having a dumped tank and trying to avoid issues during breaking?

Seems like a lot of hassle.running a oem tank.having to fill it up so the.pumps don't starve or to buy a surge setup which in turn will prolly cost more then replacing it with a FCS.one and solving all those issues while saving a ton of weight .
Well if something was offered that held more than 5 gallons, then I'd be interested.... I have no intentions on driving my car around with a gas can full of e85 hanging out in the back....
