Stupid question
Why will companies in this market sacrifice 50-100k for strategy , paying someone to be onboard for example, instead of throwing their own race and giving away half that money?
In other words, why are the payouts nowhere close to v8 territory. Is the market really dead?
Are Honda fans/racers an easy target? Do we need to start playing hard to get? Who is really ultimately responsible for the direction of scc drag racing today. Why is it heading that way?
I don't need popcorn or subsciption replies. I would like to hear some answers if possible.
Be safe and best regards

....but in all seriousness - i know where this conversation is headed and that is with a bunch of complaining, ignorance and to a dead end -- your questions are easy to answer, if you have a feeling of a way you can change it go do it, don't post on Honda-tech about
people love to talk, people hate to do

I don't know about nationally, but i know here in Ohio a lot of kids would rather look cool with trendy roof racks, tow hooks and rusted hoods, rather then go fast and risk breaking parts. I think the sport is down because of the economy for starters, I know me personally if I break something it takes me a couple 2-3 months usually to regain the money and replace the part. For the big race teams with 30-50k in a car already its just a drop in the bucket, but to the grassroot level guys its more of an issue. Another factor could be the fact that the Honda world is trash, as much as I hate to say that, its true. You have so many broke dicks, half assed cars, theivery, ect... that it makes it almost unenjoyable to build a car because your fearful that its going to get stolen and parted out in about 10 minutes lol.
Secondly, again only speaking from what I see here in Ohio, there aren't many import events. The only real big ones we have here is IFO (2x's this year!!!) and the DSM shootout. Outside of that its v8 country and there is no way in hell you're going to run your import at one of their events lol.
I can't speak on why companies choose to "sponsor" racers rather then hold their own events..Just be greatful for the events that we do have, it could be worse, there could be none.
1 more edit because I can lol, I think drag racing as a whole is down. I have attended events for the last 20+ years and have seen a decline in attendance and racers wether it be the import cars or domestic cars.

IFO has big pay outs and puts on a good event, i have v8 buddys that travel 200+ miles run in a 32 car field with 16 qualifiers for $1500
we dont have it so bad with a 8 car qualifier and $1000 in a fwd class
were not pros and its not top fuel, those guys may win big money but there spending more money on a race program in a season than i plan on in life time

guy from nerk pretty much nailed it.
Drag racing is, was, and always will be a "racers race".... I really don't enjoy watching it unless its close friends of mine racing.
The cost and fear of theft is what keeps me away. If 1 guy can afford a 10k trans and the rest of the guys can't, there really isn't much point in racing because that guy is gonna win every time. Not to say there isn't point at racing at all, but just not in whatever class that guys in lol.
Not to mention worrying about it getting stolen all the time. Hell I check my garage EVERY MORNING and my car doesn't even run, but there's a bunch of parts some thief would love to have sitting in there.
nerk nailed it again - there's a small handful of legit tuners/racers/mechanics out there, and then there's 5,000,000,000 fanbois, clowns, and posers that do stupid **** and think they look cool and it has "branded" the entire import "racing/tuning" community. If the general public views ALL imports as a bunch of clown *** kids collectively, there's really no way around that, and at this point, no coming back. So at this point its just whatever you make of it, and you take it for what it is.
