which is a stronger LSD
I am planning to go with a quafe and was told that the LS diff is stronger than a GSR one because of the bearing that the diff sits in
I was told that since the bearing for the GSR is tapered it would allow movement side to side unlike the LS or b16 ones which are flat
Is this true?
I want to build a tranny for my all-motor hatch and don't want to do it twice
Thanks for your time

A tapered roller bearing will provide support from all directions. A regular cartridge bearing will only provide support against the races, not side to side. Try taking a tapered bearing and laying it on an open vice. Press down on the center....it won't go anywhere. Do the same with the other bearing....if you push hard enough, the middle will pop out and you'll end up with your ***** on the floor
. At some point on the later gsr's honda went back to the regular style bearing for some reason, cost and interchangibility I assume. I haven't ever heard of any problems with either bearing really.

Its obviously a custom gear ratio correct? my type r tranny only goes like 150mph in 4th at 10k. I dont want to shift 5th to finish the 1/4 mile. you guys finish the 1/4 in 4th at 172mph??

Stock gears, I promise. What size tire are you running? We are running a 28" tire which is 29" if you are doing the math on the gear ratios because of expansion. You seem real quick to jump to conclusions about what we are running. We run a quaife, type r tranny, and stock gears. Anything else you would like to doubt me on?
I have a b16 jdm tranny from a obd1 do you think it will hold up to the 300+ power range with a drag run every so often.
I agree with you tony my car bounced off rev limiter at 10,200 going 150 with 25's a 28 inch tire would easily give you 22 more mph not evn considering what thos big boys are groqing to up top.You say 28's go to 29's down the track when I see you guys run they frigging look like 32 inch super swampers
Thanks I was hopeing it would hold up and sorry but I seen the type R on the pic
so I figured it was that car. I may be wrong if motormatrix is talking about the drag drag car ok I apolgize for the jumping on the statement. but back to the 300+ power problem
with my set up
b16 84 1/2 bore with ls crank with 9.1 compr. after the one point drop thicker head gasket. 68 mm TB and skunk2 intake manifold.
t3 turbonitics with 60 trim 255 fuel pump, 310 injectors going to run around 20psi
basicly I can go on the suspension is fully done every little thing I could have done to the motor has been done the head is still stock I'll change it next srping obdI converstion harness done all of this is in a 98 Hb I am being a little under rating my set up because my buddie has the same set up with AEM IMS and a fully built head. He has 500+ with 30 psi. So on the dyno I may see 400 may be at 20 psi without going to 25 the turbo may not have good boost at that.

One more quick question tony off this subject. what air fuel do you guys run on methanol to make it down the track on 1gal?? Our civic drinks it like nothing but fuel and timing is very conservative on our car. thanks for your help
