Default spool vs lsd for full race

anyone have info on whether a spool or lsd is preferred for a full race crx - b16 over 500hp.

I'm staring to build this and want to get it right the first time.

A spool is just a pain in the *** whether its driving in the pits, pushing the car, or when it comes to axle breakage.

We use Quaife/Wavetrac/MFactory LSD's in everything, but some of the faster guys use spools..

I agree, ended pulling the spool out and threw in a lsd and never looked back

p.s. obx lsd 750whp b16 over 100 full passes and many dyno pulls with no problem

We run a spool on the sunfire, were running a lsd in the crx but are now switching to a spool in it also.

In a race car spools are not as bad as people make them out to be , i have even had a street car with a spool , and its just pain to push if your trying to turn the wheel

helical gear is nice IMO because there are no clutches to wear out...

I agree. Any steering correction is like slightly hitting the brakes.

the problem with spools is if you break an axle your car will keep going and usually drive you into the wall or the next lane.

if it starts pulling, let off the gas and the car goes straight again.

if the car is broke and you have to push it, take the axles out.

it is still a pain in the ***. if you pull the axles out and push it around too much, the hub and bearing start coming looseand the wheel wobbles around. it needs to have the outer joint with the nut in it
