Default Recommended Slick Size Please?

Hey a friend of mine has a 2000 Si coupe with a turbocharger set-up on it that was making 220whp.

His latest plans will put him closer to the 240-250whp range, and he was wondering what a good slick size would be for his car.

On street tires he trapped 106mph with the 220whp, but of course he was spinning like crazy. This was with stock Si tranny and the 4.400 FD.

I should also add that he runs an LS tranny now with a 4.400 GS-R/Si final drive set in there.

After putting the LS tranny in he could not trap over 100mph and he was finishing in 3rd gear with the stock 4.26 LS FD.

So what do you guys think? I was thinking sopme 24.50 on some 13'' wheels, but with that LS tranny we're wondering if he'll even get into 4th gear.

I'd stick with the b16 trans. and get some 24.5 slicks.
the 22" slicks will be too small. the rollout(circumference on the 24.5" are ok for the b16 trans. try those out first and see how it goes. you dont want to go too bi
i have a friend who is running 28" slicks on a b16 trans. and they are having good results with it. but then again, each setup has their own results.
but in general the 24.5" will work with what you have.

I appreciate the response, but the B16A trans has since been demolished - thus one reason for the LS tranny.

So there is no tranny swap option, but thanks for the idea.

So having said that, what would the best slick size be then?

some people think cuz of the long gears of the LS is better for a turbo car. but in most cases, its not better since the gears are TOO long and it doesnt build up boost quick enough in some setups. if you do use an ls tranny, try to go with a smaller slick for a smaller rollout. the 22'x8x13 is a good size for that much HP

22x8x13"
I ran those in my turbo LS/VTEC, on GSR tranny (120mph, in 5th gear)
Since U have the LS tranny in there, with the longer gearing, you'd want the 22's, cuz they have a smaller diameter than the 24.5's.

And what about 20x8x13 for less than 200whp all motor? The LS gearing would be a little bit more shorter than the 22x8x13 right?
I'm trying to figure out an option for my b20 non vtec. What do u guys think? (look sig)

as far as I know there isnt a 20x8x13. if youre looking for an even smaller rollout, then the 20"s is what you need, but they are only avail in a 14" rim

His B16A tranny was garbage and he simply could not find a B16A tranny. That's why he at least has the 4.400 FD in the LS tranny - he knows the gearing is a tad too long.

Thanks to everyone for the replies!
