I am going to the track at the end of the month and want to break thirteens for shure on street tires. My best time now is 14.0 without the o ring for the map sensor(running too rich) I was thinking the easiest way to get me there would be a rear diffuser. Ive seen people cut perfect circles on their rear bumpers. How is this done? I seen some guys drop a coupe tenths on 16 second cars. I thought i would get the best answers for fellow drag racers.

to answer your question, the perfect holes are cut using a hole saw...

 

You could use a Hole saw from your local home depot...theyre like 5 bucks and come with different sizes.

 

Or a carbon fiber diffuser for $125

We have them in stock. Its different then the same old circles and looks better than hacking away at your bumper with a holesaw.

It doesn't come with rivets but you do get install instructions. I can tell you where to get black painted rivets if your interested.

 

Heres the best how to:

1. Take the bumper off
2. Think where you want the holes and how many and how big
3. Get a hole saw at least 2.5" diameter
4. Mask off the outside of the bumper as not to scratch it
5. Drill away
6. Clean up with sand paper
7. Re-install bumper

MUCH easier and MUCH cheaper than spending all that money on a diffuser.

It releases the trapped air from underneath the car

 

Think of your bumper (curved around and under) as a small parachute. Putting holes in it allows for the air to flow. The best thing would be to cut a notch in it.

 

thats what i did.. cut the bottom off..

 

i really like the look off that carbon diffuser it seems a little more sleeper and would match my car very well vs the str bling blang one. im debating whether to just cut wholes or get a actual rear diffuser

 

i used a hole saw on mine and they look great.
We have the CF ones for sale too . they are like the STR style but in carbon fiber , comes with all the hardware you need to get it done.

Don't you sell STR diffusers? Why would you recommend not getting a diff? Thats like a Chevy dealer telling people not to buy a Chevy isn't it.

its called Honest business. not everyone is soo concerned with trying to sell an over priced prduct when there is a cheaper alternative.

Why did you bring up the fact that you guys sell one then? Since when is selling products dishonest? All I know is I would be pissed if one of my dealers was steering people away from buying my products. To me that is dishonest...

When you sell a manufacturers product there is an implied trust established that you will help them sell their products. Isn't there? Why carry the product at all if you don't intend to sell it?

I dont work for anyone , i dont sell parts for anyone. I have stuff laying around that i sell in classifieds and i have friends that fabricate items. I dont retail anything on this board. I will state if i know someone that has the product someone is looking for and take it off the board if someone shows interest.

OK , i am sorry for assuming that in America people cannot justify their opinion on products. If i turned this post into a Race plates manufactures bullshit and ripped me off for no reason , then you can be upset and do as you wish with my acct. However that is not the case in this instance. Alot of people buy things on this site , as consumers they need to know there are more options out there other than the ones that sponsor this site.
