Default Is the Quaife diff worth the extra $ compared to the OBX Limited Slip

I'm making 500whp and running a bone stock GSR trans. Last week I ran my car went 10.80's at 130mph. MY 60ft was 1.63 with slicks and stock struts and cheap coilovers.

Everybody says that is a great 60ft. I want to upgrade to a twin disk clutch and a limited slip but are the OBX diffs OK or should I spend the extra $$ and go with the quaife?

get the quaife - no question about it - lifetime warranty, quality, etc, etc

Well, unless you're driving a DSM, Quaife will replace anything you manage to break.

Both differentials will work... to a point. The Quaife product has been proven in most, if not all the 9 second SFWD cars. In fact, to my knowledge, every All-Motor car that has run in the 9's has a Quaife differential. Lately there seems to be an increase in axle failures. Many of these failures are axles twisting the splines off inside the side gears. Anyhow, I feel confident that our product and warranty are the BEST!

i think the quaife price dropped if memory serves me correct i think i seen them for like 835 or somewhere in that range. but, i run an obx in my tranny, no problems yet, it actually workes damn well. i noticed a huge difference when i finally got it in. but quaife has been around for a while and there lifetime warranty is pretty good so, its a hard choice. good luck with ur car.

ive been running a quaife for about two years also. i love it. theres a reason its lifetime warranty. as for suspension, i am running the omni-power drag kit. from what i hear, no one seems to like it, i dont mind it. the rear of the car feels just like have a wheelie bar sitting right on the strip.

do not change your suspension setup. 1.6 60ft! you know its working. Just go with quaife- better safe than sorry.

How many people are runing in the 9's and 10's with the OBX.
If a LSD were to break could it mess up the tranny itself?

If you've read any of the longer threads about the OBX, you would realize that paying for the quaife is not paying for the name.
OBX lsds come with untorqued bolts, are not sized properly for the available OEM diff shims, and several people have opened them to find the internal peices were not assembled properly.

EARL on here did a comparison on the OBX and quaife. Not exactly sure when it was but it should show if you run a search on it. Read the thread and come back tell us what you think

I run the OBX and I have no problems other then getting the passenger axle out is a bitch, It performes great. The Quaife is alot better looking from a machining standpoint and the metal it is made of is a lot harder. I say flip a coin.

I know all my trannies will have OBX because im on a tight racing budget.
