I actually said that but then deleated it, but I thought it was the same thing.

Is that very bad for your car also?

i had the impression that power shifting was shifting with your foot on the gas, while engaging the clutch also, jus saving time w/o lettin off n on the gas?

i agree.. i never do it since i dont notice a difference... plus with a lightened flywheel u just bounce of the limiter for a split second.. i wouldnt recommend it while other people swear it makes you go sUp3R fAsT y0!!!!! lol

shifting without letting off the gas is speed shifting, shifting without the clutch is power shifting. both are very hard on the drivetrain. but you get the best results from speed shifting. it keeps the revs up, while you quickly stab the clutch and grab the gear.
Most semi drivers shift without the clutch. It's harder to do on front wheel drive cars than rear wheel drive cars because their is more linkage. It's not hard on the tranny if it is done right. You just have to match the revs to the gear. Rally cars all used to have crash boxes (trannies with straight cut gears and no syncros) and their drivers only used the clutch to get started. The great thing about knowing how to shift without the clutch is that you don't get stuck somewhere if your clutch goes out, you can still get home. You will have to start the car in 1st gear though because you can't shift from neutral into 1st without a clutch. In the days of rear wheel drive cars most of us shifted without the clutch regularly. Especially downshifting. In those days clutches only lasted 40 to 50 thousand miles so we were saving our clutches. Now that clutches last forever and it's harder to get at those front wheel drive trannies I don't do it anymore. But I will if the clutch goes out and I'm away from home.
power shifting or speed shifting isnt a problem if ur car is fast, why do it, it just messes up ur tranny
i use to speed shift when i had my d15 and d16 but now i no longer need to, not to say anything bad about sohc, but i no longer have a use for it

It really doesn't save any time.
And shifting without taking your foot off the gas is called full throttle shifting, it is something that your ecu can be tuned for so that you will not bounce off the rev limiter.

That is exactly what "power" shifting is.
Speed is a quick flip of the feet,
Power is never taking your foot off of the throttle. It uses more clutch and syncros but, it is the fastest.
It is a technique that many RWD Pushrods have used to shorten their 1/4 mile times. Including me.

yes you can shift without using the clutch by rev matching.. and its not very harmful to your drivetrain.. if you're driving normally... but if you're taking it up to redline and shifting without the clutch...
