Default Plug options with C.O.P?

Im running the aem v2 twin fire, last year I was running ngk iridium plugs. The plugs I want to use I cant because there a non resistor plug. So my question is what are you other big hp guys using besides the expensive iriduim plugs? #9,10 plugs.

thanks

IK27's here too. Expensive for a plug, but they work pretty good.

I believe they do.... NGK IFR9H-11

It's the "laser iridium" plug

Looks like it should work. It's used on the 2002-2006 Honda RVT1000R RC51. Badass bike btw, but they still can't hang with my Ducati 1098S. lol

It's also a bit more expensive than the IK27

Why doesn't someone call NGK on their toll free 800 # and ask for Tech Support and talk with the experts, instead of some guy on a Ducati.

There must be a $2.00 plug out there that will work. After all, it's only going to be there for a 1/4 mile.

Damn, Byron. All over my *** today. haha

I got that NGK number after only 2 min of reasearch. I'm sure there are others out there that will work fine. Just takes time to research.

you can turn down an ngk tip on a lathe to make it work...

also i believe the aem coils accept the cheaper ngk plugs as well, if i remember correctly reading some of bisi's posts, but overall, just not as good as a coil as the cbr ones

For those of us that replace them after every run and not getting new ones for free. Cheap and works for one pass is a better option.

The AEM coil can run a push on type plug, but I still haven't looked into what to use. No more replacing every pass hopefully, that was just because the car didn't like old plugs.

Aem told me I had to use a resistor plug, a non resistor plug would cause to much interference. So ya looking for a resistor plug that would work that is not 6-8 each. I will try to call ngk asap, just thought I would see what everyone elso was using for with a cdi or other ignition that requires a resistor plug.

RSX coils with kenne bell boost a spark. You can run R5671a-9 or 10 plugs that are cheap.

I'm sure one quick call to Devin and you'll have the answer. Thinking about it, miller would know too.

Hint to you guy's that haven't figured it out yet. Weld a 5/8 spark plug socket to a 6" extension.

This is just going off a website that sells a ton of sparkplugs.... haha
These are all resistor plugs

NGK BKR8EIX - Heat Range 8 - $8.48
NGK BKR9EIX - Heat Range 9 - $8.48
Denso K24PR-U11 - Heat Range 8 - $2.89
Denso K24PR-ZU - Heat Range 8 - $5.72
Denso Q27PR-ZU - Heat Range 9 - $5.72

I don't have my other books to look up other manufacturers. I have never used those particular denso plugs I always just run the iridiums, but you wanted cheap so here it is.

You will not find a copper/cheaper alternative in a 9 or 10 range that is a resistor type, been down this road many years ago.

This was a minor issue when running the AEM CDI boxes back in the day for us, other than them just burning up. LOL

When we switched to the M&W stuff no issues at all running the R5671A-X plugs, these are the plugs you will find most racers use if they can use a non-resistor plug. If they have to run a resistor type plug or a plug that has to have a removable "terminal" you will see most run the Denso IK27 or colder plug.

Put a good ignition system on and you don't have to replace them every run. I can get 3-4 events on a set of Denso IK27's easily.

The boss has said above...that hopefully, won't be an issue this time. I'm sure he'll be in touch with you as the time gets nearer.
