Default Optimum Slick size??

It looks like I'll be needing slicks(and able to afford them) sooner then I thought. I'm still a bit confused as to what the best size would be for me. They are for a 400whp(roughly) Turbo ITR. Stock tranny, stock suspension etc. I don't want anything overly huge, just functional. So what size would you all recomend? Oh, and I'm assuming I'll have to get some 15x7" lightweight wheels for the slicks(due to my brakes)
Thanks
Mark

Mickey Thompson just came out with a 24.5x8x15.they will fit perfect.DO NOT use anything smaller than 24".trust me.

what times are you looking to run e.t wise?? we had 2 cars run 11.5 and 11.4 this weekend on tiny 22x8's. you will break less if you can spin them down the track. if you are looking for 10's then go with 24.5 or 25's.

Now just imagine if you had bigger slicks to put on those cars they might have ran 10's. If you ain't breaking parts you ain't going fast enough.

22x8 is way to short for itr gearing.i used to have them and was winding out 5th gear through the traps.

Would 24.5x8.5x15 work? Would they fit on 15x7" wheels?
Thanks again.

i had the MT 22x8x15';s on my R for 2 years and hated em . I have been waiting for the 24.5x8x15's and now they are out and have been on order for 2 weeksnow . they will hook much better esp for our apps.
go with them . you will hate the 22's

Cool, thanks to my fellow high HP Turbo ITR's Do you all have anything against M&H slicks, I can get pretty good deals on them...
Shoot, while I'm at it, are there any reasonably priced 15x7" lightweight wheels with the ITR lug pattern out there?

thanks for insight as if we hadnt realized that. the escort which went 11.5 had 26 inch slicks on it and broke in the water box twice. So if you break parts you definetly are not going fast or down the track at all. also, if you cannot spin the slicks at all you wont be going fast either. the car will bog.

Little off but motormatrix what is breaking/causing the break during the burn out ?? I beleive its my intermediate shaft that went but i dont know why? Im using little 20*8*14 m/t on a gsr hatch soon as i launched i had a violent shake coming from my axle will getting fresh axle (dss stage IV) make this not a problem
Or is there a "good burnout/ launching tech" i am hooking consistent 1.90's
