Yes it does, due to no restrictions in the exhaust flow.

open header will give you all top end power.. it will jack you up around town.. basicly strip only thing..

Actuallly it adds a huge mid-range hump but you are correct in that below 5000 your motor tends to rev slower (no exhaust to help scavenging) but above 5000 it feels pretty good although REALLY loud.....

Depending on the header you have you may even see a nice gain in the last thousand rpm before fuel cut....especially with stock manifold ...the smaller headers tend to gain more once uncorked...but 99% of the power gained is in the mid range but I *think* it feels like you rev faster up top in VTEC for some reason.....maybe its just me

I dropped 1.5 tenths easy going open....

On a small collector header (carb legal) you should drop 1.5-2.0 tenths opening it up due to the fact the motor can breathe even though the tubing is small.

AS mentiond earlier- "it will get you locked up" hahaha... Well, if you have a street/track car and want to run an open header, just get an exhaust cutout. I made a 2 1/2 dp that just dumped the gases behind the front left tire. I drove it around town after i was finished just for the hell of it and man its loud. REALLY LOUD! There are pops bangs an even fire coming out (on my setup)... I still get fire coming out of the exhaust on my seup now Especially when i get on the 2-step! - and i have the thermal 3 inch.. (no cat)

running open header dropped my time by .42 seconds running open header. also to add i was running a CAI compared to the short ram i had on previously at the track.
