Default need an educated answer. 1/8

ok. whats going on friends and foes

last night we took the hotrod coupe to atco. when we got there they were only allowing 1/8 mile pass's. on our 2nd pass we got a full 1/4 pass.

1st run we got a 5.97 @123 in the 1/8 with a 1.41 60.

on our 2nd pass we went 5.8X @114 with a 1.38 60ft time. (9.7@109 miss 4th)

i know the 60 has alot to do with the et...blah blah blah.... but how the hell could we have possibly lost 10mph in the 1/8 ????????? is it possible that the timers are off ????? the car really didnt seem to be hooking any harder now than before. but Steve was on a pass.

Wouldn't happen to be shifting around the time of the traps would he?

its possible, but i was paying more attention to how straight he was keeping the car, as well as how it was hooking/accelerating. i think its in 3rd before or right @ the 1/8 mile mark though. hopefully Steve can chime in later on this afternoon sometime.

If you have datalogs from both runs you should easily be able to see what changed.

Anyone know what a hotrod honda is doing in the 1/8 on a 8.50 pass. Give or take the average. I'm guessing the 5.8 is right about on par. And yeah the lack of data equipment is lame. We have nothing but eyes, ears, and spark plugs.

2nd pass seems to be right for the 9.70 run.

If you were doing a 123 on the 1/8, but the ET is slower than the 2nd pass, its possible you had more wheel spin on the 1st pass.

The car just hooked better on the 1/4 mile pass and had a lower mph, but better 1/8 mile times.

daym i just reread that but sure was hard to read. haha. tell me if you guys understood what I just typed.

Atco's new time slips don't show the 330. On a pass that I did 9.1 at etown my 330 was 3.9 and the 1/8 was 6.0. So on that second pass I'd guess it was a 3.7. I'm convinced it was an 8.8-8.9 pass but can't say for sure. I wouldn't say it had much to do with traction my car doesn't spin much at all in first and after that its a dead hook. Also I have other slips were my 60's are in the high 1.3s and I'm still doing 125mph or so in the 1/8. We were just a little shocked to see a 10 mph diff when I was on my best pass yet. Obviuosly the car doesn't have much power either. We dyno it at 800 or so but the car runs like its putting down 650. As for the engine management we could leave a laptop mounted in the car to data log I believe about 8 diff things but my laptops to nice for that kind of abuse so I'll just wait to get a race pak. My NLR boost controller could be telling me some important boost info if I just hook my map up to the aux port and were in business there. Btw the most mph I've seen at the traps has been 156. We know the cars fat though if we could just lean it out a little on top we'd possibly pick about 10 mph. Oh well were sick of these stock gsr cams so well see how this bitch does with my roller rocker set.

its seems as though the car needs more boost in second gear, i may be wrong but just from what you are describing it seems as this might help. your 1/8th mile mph should be higher then 125. i would say atleast 135 or 140mph range.

also with the dfi gen 7 you can datalog a couple things to help your situation.

i agree with the 1/8 mph. it should be higher. when we were @ etown, we checked out one of stephanie eggum's timeslips and she is way faster in the 1/8 (i belive 135-138) we are hitting 2nd gear with about 30-35 psi, maybe we can adjust the ramp speed on the boost controller so that it will come up quicker. 3rd and 4th are full boost (37-38) (at least that is what it was on the dyno, but i can imagine track and dyno are 2 completly differant loads on the car)

how can we datalog without a labtop being in the car? we dont want to mess up a good labtop(if it happen to go flyin around) i do know that the dfi has some datalogging built into it...... .but we arent that savy with the electronics yet.... have alot of learning to do.

thanks guys
