motor mounts
hey guys, just a question, a buddy of mine is a certafied machinist and is going to attempt to make some solid motor mounts for our car .... what material are they commonly made from , and what grade ??
I'm sure you will start to have problems with solid motor mounts. They will stress the body too much and will eventually crack. If you can have your machinist create a mount similar to Hasport you can inject a very hard polyurethane to absord some Shock. Solid mounts are just too stiff and will surely do damage to the mounting points.
so what would I make the mounts to inject the polyurethane into ?? juss aluminium ? and do I just bust down to "jim bobs polyurethane warehouse" for the poly ?
I am gonna guess that the pro's are using solid mounts, I do in my race car. But if you got a heavy *** car driving all the time you are either gonna crack your chassis or strip the bolts. I used the hasport in my 500whp street car no probs.

So you are using solid as in no bushings in your race car?

Yeah I use solid mounts no bushings, there are many ways to do it. You can wither make a bracket for the motor or use the existing one and weld/fill it. (not a welder not exactly sure how). But you get the idea.
