Default MoTec Question??

What wideband sensors are compatible with MoTec. I have a M400 ECU, and already have a Bosch wideband O2, so if I dont have to buy a new that would be great!

Any info would be appreciated....thanks

you need to wideband option enabled on the motec. the other option is to run a plm or other wideband configured to give the same output as the plm.

LSU 4.0, LSU 4.2, or NTK. And you will need the wideband option enabled regardless of which sensor you use.

yes, which sensor do you have? If you have the bosch then you can do a free air calibration, go to the "wide band lambda setup" and "free air calibration". Make sure you have the sensor type setup for the sensor you are using.

oh one thing i noticed with the LSU 4.2 sensor is that althought its listed on the sensor list, you got to tell the motec to run it as an LSU 4.0

That was the only way to get it to start reading.

Not sure if this is the right way to do it but it worked for a couple cars.

The options I have listed are as follows

1. LSU 4.0 (normal)
2. NTK (normal)
3. LSU 4.0 (fast heat)
4. NTK (fast heat)
5. LSU 4.2 (normal)
6. LSU 4.2 (fast heat)

on a 2 cars im running an lsu 4.2 but when i choose option 5 the wideband never becomes active, but when i choose option 1 for lsu 4.0 it works even though the sensor is really a lsu 4.2

Isn't the difference between the LSU 4 and 4.2 basically the plug?

one more question, I have found wiring schematics for the M800 and the M880 ECU. Mine is a M400, is the wiring the same on all ECU's for the LSU widebands???

Yes, the M400 wiring is the same as the 800 and 880.

i'm pretty new to aftermarket EMS's but putting aside heaters and what not, shouldn't the ecu just be looking for a voltage range?.........0-5v?

A wideband sensor by itself doesn't put out a 5v signal, you have to have a driver/processor for the sensor, which the motec does itself internally.

Please keep in mind that the LSU 4.0 and 4.2 are not wired the same.

LSU 4.0 CONNECTOR
pin
1. LAM Ip
2. LAM Vs
3. LAM 0V
4. HEATER GND (ECU AUX OUT 1 OR 2)
5. LAM HEATER 12V+
6. NOT CONNECTED

LSU 4.2 CONNECTOR
pin
1. LAM Vs
2. NOT CONNECTED
3. HEATER GND(ECU AUX OUT 1 OR 2)
4. LAM HEATER 12V+
5. LAM 0V
6. LAM Ip

Using the wrong configuration or pinout will result in false lambda value readings.

Nathan
