Default Mickey Tompson question !!

Hai,

I have a 91 civic with a b16a1 swap with place racing mounts, light flwheel, new stock clutch, intake, dc 4-2-1 header, custom exhaust, apex racing suspension, fpr, msd digital 6, cabels, ss blaster coil.
My best 60ft is 2.289 with street tyres.

I want to get 1.8 sec 60ft times. What do I need to do ?? Slicks or tractions bars ???
I know it is best to have both but I can’t buy both right now so I have to choose, slicks or traction bars from which will I benefit the most ??

If it is slicks I was thinking about Mickey Tompson Et Drag Slicks 20-8.0x14. Is that the right size for me ?? At summit racing I saw “inner tubes required” but I also heard that some people in the states use them without inner tubes. Can I use them on 14 inch alumunium wheels without inner tubes ???

Hope some can help me out, THANKS !!!

I would do slicks first, I think that they will have a bigger impact on your 60' than traction bars will... then do traction bars when you can afford it...

M&H are makers of racing slicks. alot of people prefer them over mickey thompson, including myself. and you do not have to use tubes with their slicks.

check them out at:

20x8x14 MT's on the NA B16 MIGHT get high 1.8 60's, bet your gonna have to launch hard!!!!!!!

MY SOHC VTEC on the MT 20x8x14 slicks at 12 psi gets avg. 1.95 NA, 1.85 with 85 shot of juice.

I launch at 7800 rpms with a 12.5 lb flywheel.

The MT's don't require tubes either. I've run 3 pairs of 20x8x14's and one set of 20x6x14's. I'm now at the steeping point of going to 22x8x13 M&H slicks, then I should get mid 1.7 60's.

Wauw !!! sounds good man can´t wait to get some good drag slicks !!!!!

I launch at 5000 rpms with a 9,9 lbs flywheel.

My best 60ft is 2.289 with street tyres. And my best run ever is 14,33 @ 160,96 km/h so that´s 100 mph i think.

So my mods for now are a 6 puck clutch with pressure plate i got it at clutchnet and two 14 inch light wheels, 6,5 kg each, and some DRAG SLICKS and than i am hoping for a 13.8 sec NA.

I am going to be real happy if i can launch at 7000 rpm and have almost now wheelspin !!!

Okee one more question

I can choose between a 15 inch wheel which is 3,85 kg and then i should get MT 22x8x15 or 14 inch wheel which is 6,5 kg with MT 20x8x14.
I have only 170 engine hp.

What is best for me ???

I would say to go with the MT 20x8x14 with your power.

But if i had more power let´s say 250 hp than the 15 inch was better ??? Becuase i thought the real fast guys go with 22x8x13.

Basicly what i want to know is, is 14 inch better than 15 inch even if the 15 inch wheel is lighter ???????

You have to make sure you have the power and torque to turn the slicks and I don't think 170 at the motor is going to be enough to spin the 15's but yes if you had 250whp then I'd say to go with the 15's for sure.
