Medi Blasting
Hey guys Im considering getting my chassis media blasted (92 eg) before i have the cage welded in. What im concerned with is them removing to much metal IE: weakening the body parts. Do you guys think that i should be worried with the amount of metal if any that will be removed?
get a very fine media, that way you'll only take off dirt etc....... either way, i doubt you'd take offf enough material to the point of sturctural damage
TRy looking for a company called Redi-Strip....they have locations all over the US. They do Alkaline Dipping. It does not eat the metal at all....only aluminum. We use this process on all of our cars we build. It will take evrything off the car and leave it clean and bare of glues too...blasting doesnt do that. Also with blasting you will have sand coming out from places for a very long time! trust me

Ok im a moron lol, I just thought that Civics were mostly made out of aluminum. But having the chassis dipped would be ideal! thanks for the input.
i had my crx blasted.. the only bad part was the guy that did it didnt fully understand that he couldnt heat the panels like the doors and roof as much as he did.. he warped the doors pretty bad and maybe the roof a little.. so thats all you have to watch out for.. and the sand coming out all the time is kinda shitty too.. but whatever, if you can get it dipped do it !

i had my chassis sand/bead/ media blasted before it got the body work and paint done. i really wasnt happy with the outcome of the blasting. they got most of the undercoating off the bottom of the car, but never botherd to look in the wheel wells... i also i belive i was overcharged(875.00 for the blasting) and everytime i work on my car, i swear 5 lbs of stuff comes out from the blasting... jack it up and bang on it or use the sawzaw..and all of the sudden, the garage is a sandbox.
if i could do it over again, i would get the car dipped before the cage or any fabrication work took place.

Theres a place in wisconsin that blasts the car with plastic *****...and it gets all the paint off without etching the doors or ******* anything up. I'm going to do that to my car next year I think.
There is no place in VA for it...EPA says its a no no. We charge $1700. But that includes delivery there and back and a zinc coating. You can save about $200 bucks if you go yourself, but they only deal with business's because of the liabilty.

my media blasting was $300, if he would have used plastic media instead of sand it would have not had the heat problems on the doors.. maybe that would be a better option seeing the price of the dipping
