LS tranny ?
im currently rebuilding my engine allmotor. ( gave up on the boost ) when allmotor is brought up it is always said to be transfered by close gears. ( b16, gsr, type r ) well im really considering to use my ls tranny. when you think about the top doggs runnin 9's and ****, i can't picture them runnin stock gear trannys. their traps are way up there. so in my mind im thinking they have way longer gears to obtain those kinda speeds. and plus honda 5th gears are a bitch to quick shift (imo)
but my setup :
sleeved ls block (in work)
eagle rods
86mm wiseco pistons 12.5 - 13.0:1
pnp b16 head
portflow springs & retainers
rs or jun3 cams ( haven't decided yet)
hondata s200
440 injectors
ported and port matched sk2 im
65mm tb
blah

im hoping for a solid 220+ on pump gas 91oct
and 230 - 240 whp on race fuel. bottom line is do you think that tranny will hurt me enough to where i should exchange for a b16 or gsr?
if some of that **** didn't make sence ignore it.

Yes, your LS trans will kill you in the 1/4 mile.For a lot of these race cars, assuming a 24.5" slick growing to 25" on the top end and 10K RPM's it wouldn't suprise me if they were running B16/ITR trannys with a 4.9 final drive.
9500 + LS trans + 23" street tire = 120 MPH in third gear. It's a poor use of gearing if you're not even at the top of third clearing the traps on street tires.
And it doesn't matter if it's all motor OR boost, the shortest gearing possible will be quicker.

i run a LS trans in my turbo car and everybody gives me **** about it haha. im about to put a 4.4 final drive in my back up trans to play with that a little bit. a LS trans will kill a all motor car for sure.
