I was looking at the teammfactory gear calculator and the gsr and ls 1st and 2nd gears are virtually the same. I have an Ls tranny and was thinking of just switching out the very long 3rd gear for a b16 3rd gear and keep the ls 4th. I shift at 9500rpm, and i feel the Ls pulls very well in 4th and dont think its worth the money to purchase a brand new gsr 4th gear. Pleaselet mehere your expierence with any of this. the ls 3rd goes 128mph at 9500rpm with 24.5's and b16 3rd goes 108mph, so that means i would be higher in the rpm range when i cross the 1320 with the Ls 4th, versus shifting at 128mph into 4th and maybe only being at 7500rpm.
Its a 600whp crx with a gt4294 24.5/9/13 m/t's

the actual gears on the main and countershafts on the LS and GSR have the same tooth count. The GSR, however, does have the double-synchro on the 2nd gear. As for using the B16 3rd with an LS 4th, you need to make sure that they are compatible.
I would imagine the RPM drop from an B16 3rd to an LS 4th would be complete poop, with any amount of decent power you will blaze the B16 3rd and probably fall way out of your powerband hitting that low 4th..... use a GSR 4th if you can get it.

sorry guys its a cable ys1 tranny, so i can use the hydro gears in my case.
shifting at 9500rpm now with ls 3rd and 4th it only drops to about 7200rpm from the 3-4 shift and thats still in my powerband and still in full boost.
I can get the b16 main and counter 3rd for $150 brandnew from honda.
the gsr main and counter 3rd gear is about $300+ from acura.
